First I would say that this cake was delicious. And the service was so bad it still doesn't deserve more than 1 star.
I ordered a cake weeks ahead of time for my daughter's 1st birthday. After going back and forth about the size, I ordered a 12 inch 3 layer cake, with strawberries on top (for a $25 upcharge). I was told this would include a smash cake.
Less than an hour after ordering, I got a call asking what color I wanted "happy 1st birthday" written on the cake in. I explained I didn't want that written at all, it wasn't in the picture discussed in my quote, and didn't go with the style I wanted. She said it had to say that if I wanted a smash cake. I explained I would pay for the smash cake, but didn't want the writing. I was told I could not buy a smash cake and could only get one as a free add on to a cake that says "happy 1st birthday". I agreed (only because I had a screaming child).
I called back the next day, discussed with a manager, and explained I did not want the writing. They agreed to not put writing on the cake. The manager was not friendly and all but accused me of trying to get a free smash cake when it wasn't really a 1st birthday.
Fast forward a couple weeks -- my dad picked up the cake for me (because I'm pulling together a 1st birthday party). When he gets here it has a giant "1" on the smash cake, no strawberries I paid an extra $25 for, and is 2 layers instead of the 3 I paid for. It was way too late to make any other arrangements on the day of the party, so we just went with it.
I called 2 days later to ask for a partial refund for the products I didn't receive (1/3 of the cake and the strawberries). The "manager" I talked to explained to me for about 10 minutes why it was all mine/my dad's fault because the cake wasn't checked before it left their premises and asked about if I had a picture proving the cake was 2 layers and not 3, implying I was lying, before telling me that she didn't have the authority to do a refund and would get someone to call me back that day. That call never came.
I called again the next day to talk to someone about a partial refund. This time I did get a call back. They did say they were issuing a refund for 1/3 of the cake and the strawberries, and acted like that was a very generous gesture on their part, which was very confusing since I did not receive those items at all. They also said if I didn't want writing on the smash cake I should have bought one and not used the free one (even though I was told I could not do that before).
All in all, pretty good cake, some of the most terrible service I've ever had, have eaten and loved their items for years, will...
Read moreI ordered a two tier cake from Juliaâs Bakery for my daughterâs 7th birthday well in advance- approximately two to three months prior to the pick-up date. The week of her birthday, I called to confirm the order and all was well. My husband went to pick up the cake the morning of her birthday and a nightmare became true. They forgot to make the cake. They rather unapologetically told my husband that he could pick one of their premade cakes out of their cabinet and they would refund us the difference. I was absolutely beside myself. Although we live in the area, we were to be traveling to Gatlinburg early that morning for her party, where lots of our friends and family members would be meeting us from all over the United States to join us in celebrating. After I started calling frantically from home, we were told that they could try to decorate a spare one tier cake that they had rather quickly, using our same color scheme that we had originally requested. With no other option, we agreed. That cake turned out nothing at all like the original so we were sent home with it, as well as a plain white cake from their cabinet. Shortly thereafter, I spoke with management and essentially there was nothing he could do to help us except refund us. He did, however, say that he would call me the following week as they wanted to make this up to us by making us something special for the holiday season. He never did call. Unbelievable. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the lack of apology from the in-store staff that day, the lack of follow-up as promised by management and the ability to trust this business with my future needs. This cake was meant to be the centerpiece for my daughterâs party, and without it, the event was truly ruined from my perspective, not to mention the amount of stress that this put on us on what should have been a seamless 5 minute cake pick-up. We ended up being 2.5 hours late to our own event because my husband had to stand in there for so long while they tried to come up with a solution. I have attached photos of the tiered cake I requested vs. what I...

My question for Julia's Bakery is; do you make Tea Sandwiches??
There was a bakery in Farmington Hills, MI, that came close to your superbness Ms. Julia; named Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop. They made the most decitant Tea Sandwiches (made with colored cream cheeses, salmon, tuna, egg salad, sweet pickles, sliced olives, while placed, on tiny little breads đ€€ cut in circles and squares).
Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop have recently closed since after the Pandemic. There seems to have not been a Successor, nor any recipes available.
Have you heard of this form of Tea Sandwiches, or do you make them? Or can Julia's Homestyle Bakery create your own version of Tea Sandwiches? đđ„Șđđ„°đ. Thank you for reading my...
