Read moreThird time visiting and lost a point based on service and my favorite menu item The Dublin is gone and changed to Hash Benedict which was not as enjoyable. Blueberry hush puppies were great as always. If you want to sit at the bar it is first come first serve not reserved if you don't want to read the below. The other issue this time is that we know this is a busy spot even as non locals however the 3 hostesses did not do their job. We made a reservation to eat at the bar through Yelp with a 51 to 71 min wait. Did an errand came back 3 mins before our required time, hostesses verified our reservation specifically at the bar and said ok we will let you know when it's available. So we stood right by them. While waiting we keep notice locals are going straight to the bar and waiting for seats there. I asked the hostess are we going to get a spot at the bar when the seats become available because I can see people waiting for the seats. This is when the decided to let us know the bar is first come first serve. After standing right by you for 10 mins and then asking this is when you decide to let me know. Asked for the manager she saved the next seats for us and gave hush puppies on the house. However 3 hostesses let me say that again 3 hostesses decided it was not necessary to tell us the bar is first come first serve and let us stand there thinking we were next to get available seating. That is not service and snickering about it is...
Read moreWhat a fantastic little spot in an unlikely place! My companion and I shared both dishes we ordered - the 'Hey Blueberry' omelet and the Blueberry Ricotta Waffle. The omelet was presented very well and looked as appetizing as it turned out to be. Chorizo can be very gritty, but the ratios of sausage to caramelized onion and cheese was perfect and delicious. We upgraded the side to the goat cheese and pesto grits, and can I just say wow! The bite of the goat cheese coupled with the herbal smoothness of the pesto mixed with the texture of old fashioned stone ground grits was possibly the star of the whole breakfast for me. The waffle seemed a bit dense rather than the light and crispy airy batter I expect from a Belgian waffle, but they may be using a buckwheat or other flour in the batter. The blueberry flavor and the creamy ricotta on top were delicious - I would have just enjoyed something a little lighter. Ciara, our server, was perfectly attentive and very friendly. I highly recommend giving this spot a try if you're in town.
Oh and one more thing. The second photo shows a fly deterrent they have on the patio tables. When we first sat down we thought this was a fan for cooling us (it would have been terrible at that as it moved almost no air), but it was extremely effective at keeping flies from landing on the table...
