Great little store! I feel like the signage to find it could’ve used a little more! The fresh options were amazing, however as we had a 5 hour drive ahead of us we went for some of the frozen snow crab legs and Jonah’s claws! Grabbed a small container of their seafood seasoning and a crab dip as well! Oh can’t forget the hush puppies! They offered ice for the road which was much appreciated! Seafood is always expensive but it was reasonable and it beats buying it online and paying shipping costs! Will always stop again during future open season visits.

Spent a week at a beach house right next to whalebone. Stopped to look around and they had a great selection of seafood. Decided to make some shrimp tacos and got three pounds of 26-30 count shrimp. They deveined and cleaned them for me quickly. You could truly tell how fresh they were. They also had little neck clams that I’d get to make linguine/clam sauce. On Tuesday, they had a wine tasting. Overall, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Even got a shirt there. Highly recommended

Great simple seafood. We ordered the Whalebone 2 nights ago and didn’t realize they had forgotten the clams until the end. We were full at that point so it didn’t matter, but when I called back today to order again, she offered the clams for free to make up for the mistake. The lady I talked to was so helpful on the phone and explaining the build your own. Simple food, great taste and great service!! Will be coming back next year.

If you're craving fresh, local seafood while in the Outer Banks, Whalebone Seafood Market at Whalebone Junction in Nags Head is an excellent choice. While Wanchese is renowned for its seafood and is a great destination to support the local industry, Whalebone Seafood Market offers the advantage of being closer to many vacationers.

Whalebone Seafood Market stands out with its wide variety of fresh seafood and deep local knowledge. The staff provides excellent recommendations for preparation and ensures you have all the accompaniments you need for a delicious meal. From seasonings and breadings to oils, sauces, herbs, and even wine, they have everything to elevate your seafood experience.

The convenience of Whalebone Seafood Market, coupled with their expertise and comprehensive selection, makes it a top choice for those staying in the Nags Head area. For a fresh, local seafood experience right near your vacation spot, I highly recommend visiting Whalebone Seafood Market. If you have the time, be sure to check out Wanchese as well for a broader taste of the OBX...

Great place for seafood if you need a seafood place in the area. Moderate prices with reasonable prices.

PROS: Customer Service: As out-of-area customers, we didn’t know what we wanted, and wanted a sample of locally-fished products. The customer-service representatives there informed us quickly to what met our needs as well as what met most customers wanted. It was easy to see what was best to buy from them versus a random seafood seller in the state

They are open FAR later on a weekend than others. Ona Sunday or Saturday you will find much more reasonable prices and selection than almost anyone else in the Kitty Hawk area

CONS: Their prices were higher than other sellers in the general area. Another weekend we went to another seafood distributor and found ourselves faced with better prices. In the end, this place offers constant reasonable prices despite market demand and seasonable demand. This establishment is a tried and true seller of seafood if you are looking for NC local...

Our family absolutely loves the Whalebone Seafood Market. They always have a beautiful selection of fresh seafood. The workers are always helpful and polite.

We always order a seafood feast to take back to our beach house and enjoy. The crab is always cooked just right, so it snaps open perfectly and it's hot! The shrimp are amazing. They are super fresh and their house made seasoning is awesome. I recommend asking for "heavily seasoned". You can buy their dry seasoning and take it home to enjoy all year. They always have a delicious fresh cocktail sauce and garlic butter for your hot food.

The place is immaculately clean. I absolutely recommend Whalebone Seafood Market if your in the area and want a beach house feast or fresh seafood to...
