We head to Nantucket every LDW and thought we'd check out American Seasons for the first time. We were seated, received drinks we liked, and thought maybe this was a new spot to add to our rotation. Unfortunately things went down hill from there. Every other table was given a complimentary bread course that we weren't given (after reading other reviews, this seems common). We ordered appetizers that were pretty good and they were hastily removed from our table as we were still working on finishing them. You'd think that meant that entrees were close to being ready and they were trying to turn over the table, but they were not. A long wait began. Something was clearly going on in the kitchen as other tables seemed to begin getting agitated. Our food eventually was given to us after a ~45 minute wait (our Duck entrees were room temperature). Our plates were hastily rushed off our table again while other people in our group were still eating. Then began the dinner & a show portion of the evening when other groups (taking turns) began expressing their extreme frustration over long wait times, incorrect food being sent out, etc. All in we were there for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, which was the slowest service we had on island. Definitely some issues going on that are likely to impact your meal and...
Read moreCozy, warm, rustic Nantucket, off the tourist beat but well known locally with super friendly staff and outstanding American cuisine. The prices are fair for the area and for the food and service quality. I had the pork shoulder which was nicely sized, expertly prepared, and flavorful but not overwhelmingly spiced (as some restaurants do). My wife had the scallops with an amazing sauce that perfectly complimented the scallops. Be aware though that they are still slammed by lack of staff so be prepared to relax and enjoy a calm and paced evening. Big call out to Bridget your server who kept her calm and friendly manner about her even though clearly stressed, as she also had to fill in for the host who was missing this evening. Minus one star, though, for the management who was completely missing in action, and who could have come around to greet and apologize for the delays (we and others had to wait about 30 minutes past our reservation time to get seated, and one couple was even threatened with a $50/person service charge for cancellation when they inquired earlier in the evening!). However, these being extraordinary times as the season on Nantucket is just wrapping up, we will certainly give them another try...
Read moreBooked the restaurant over a month ago to celebrate my 50th birthday. I have been here before and enjoyed the experience. The owner contacted me to confirm and stated he was flattered that I would want to spend my birthday there. My wife confirmed the reservation and asked about a cake. She was informed they would make it special and no need. She asked the hostess 5 minutes before dessert to confirm some form of recognition of my birthday. Dessert arrived with no mention of anything. Eventually an apology was given and then we were left sitting for 20 minutes waiting for a check with no water or coffee refills. I don’t expect special treatment normally, but my wife did try to make the evening more memorable but unfortunately American seasons was incapable of providing that except for all the wrong reasons. Food was good but don’t expect anything beyond that based on my experience. There are worse things to complain of in the world but the business should know what...
