Annette's just put a whole dent in my childhood!!!
I used to like around the holidays when as children we'd travel to some generic drugstore, and get a big box of the Queen Anne cordial cherries. We would put them in the fridge or freezer and eat them ice cold.
Then I get to Annette's today and almost let out an excited little fart because of the giant display counter covered in literal eye candy. I got a smattering of my favorite flavors, including their Italian cherry cordial. All of the flavors I've had thus far have fondled each of my taste buds in different and consensual ways, but that Italian cordial whoo nelly I tell you whut.
I ate that cordial and immediately the neurons that stored the Queen Anne memories were burnt to nothing. An explosive assault on all of my senses lit up the smoldering remains of this lightweight brain injury like diabetes inducing fireworks. That little neuronal network that held on to the memories of Queen Anne cordials so tightly, will forever be altered by Annette's cordials.
I'm coming back for a box of JUST those cordials. Actually to heck with a box, grant me a years supply and I will give you one of my kidneys. I'm going to have to get some yankauer suction set up for the inevitable and UNCONTROLLABLE TORRENT OF SALIVA that will be generated from these cordials, made with the tears of angels.
Thank you Annette, for today I...
Read moreI went into the Oxbow location to exchange the smooth caramel brandy sauce (only removed a couple of tablespoons) that didn't taste like the product I sampled and purchased at the main shop (currently closed for renovation). I proceeded to tell the attendant that when we sampled the product at the store it tasted buttery, not to sweet and a hint of brandy. Upon stirring it at home, we discovered that the taste was very sweet and had a very strong brandy flavor. It was obvious that it wasn't stirred for sampling when we purchased it. I also stated that I purchased it about 4 months ago. She proceeded to tell me that the downtown store had been closed for 5 months. I didn't have a receipt, the label was torn of because the lid seal sticker tore it off upon opening. The Barcode is intact. My goal was to get a credit for that and purchase a few more goodies too. The attendant did mention something about contacting the owner and I decided this was the most resistive customer service encounter I've had in a very long time, so left the product there and departed. I checked my credit card record when I got home and purchased the sauce on 12/20/17, about 3 and a...
Read moreI have been dying for a brownie a la mode. My husband and I went to get ice cream right after dinner. I ordered the brownie a la mode. The attendant warmed the brownie, per my request. She the added 3 of the smallest scoops of ice cream I've ever had. Meanwhile, they had just run out of whipped cream. She said another employee was going to make fresh whipped cream. I waited several minutes. Just before it was finished, I let her know that I really wanted the brownie to still be warm. She said she would remake it. Then they proceeded to add the whipped cream to what was already there. By this time, the ice cream (tiny as it already was) was melted. She assured me the brownie was still warm. Well, the brownie was no longer warm and it tasted like it had been made a week or 2 ago. It was not fresh at all. There was no ice cream left. The whipped topping covered the entire brownie. I pushed it aside and took a couple of brownie bites. The ice cream was nowhere to be found. I threw it away. My husband's ice cream was a very odd consistency. No flavor. $23 in the trash. I would not recommend this shop. So...
