Online menu has a wonderful sounding French toast. The bakery does not. Strike one. Eggs ordered over easy and cooked a perfect over medium with mostly hard yolk. Comes with home fries according to the menu, but they don't have those either, replaced with hash browns. Hash whites id call them as they had no color or crisp. Strike 2. Putting salt on my meal after my husband salted his and I noticed the lid was crooked and salt was pouring out the side. The top of the glass salt shaker was completely broken. Strike 3, glass in our meals? We don't know, but didn't continue eating as there was no way of knowing. May have given 3 stars, as the pastries are tasty, but for the surly woman that served us. After asking about the French toast, I stepped away from the counter to decide what I would like. I got a huff and an eye roll from her. Shouldn't I be the one doing that since they didn't have what I wanted? When informing her of the salt shaker, which had obviously been recently filled and put back on the table with the broken glass, she took zero responsibility and said that a customer probably did it. BTW, we were the first customers of the morning at 7:00. Not only was no refund offered when told we were not going to eat, but again I got the huffing, eye roll and now finger pointing too. Yep, a customer (me?) broke it, filled it to the top with salt they brought in and put the lid back on. Photos attached. Shocking lack of customer service. "Karen" was behind the counter this time. Oh, and the quiche was tasteless and under AND overcooked. Will be back in Napa next month, won't be visiting Sweeties Pies. They should stick to baking and forget about the...
Read moreI love everything here, except the higher prices!
I thought $50+ for a 6" birthday cake was way too high, however I really appreciate the quality and ingredients that went in to it.
The cake was so rich and fulfilling that it's smallish size was plenty for 6 people with leftovers.
You could taste that everything was made with real sugar and butter!
Not the typical hydrogenated oil, and corn syrup genocide that seems to predominate our so called safe FDA/USDA approved foods.
Only the little sugary decoration plate and the gel they used for the "Happy birthday Katie" was questionable.
They didn't charge extra for that and I would suggest not eating it, though I am sure it was technically edible.
The staff was very helpful on the phone and at the bakery, they seem to have some lunch stuff too, but if it is a real bakery you want, look no further.
This place is awesome, as long as you aren't low income.
I was going to complain about the high price and small cake.
After my experience, I have to say that I will still come back for the quality, but not very often unless I make a lot more money.
All in all, the enjoyment of the cake by everyone made it worthwhile.
We also got a tiramisu thing in a chocolate coffee cup for less than $10, I didn't eat it, but it...
Read moreFirst time (local) visitor. I hate giving hard working people negative reviews but dang, food was below average at very very best. We ate breakfast. Smallll serving sizes. The people sitting next to us left about half their food. Considering how small the serving sizes are it is safe to say they felt the same way about the food as the three of us. They also offer a lot of what appear to be delicious cakes, cookies, etc... However, if breakfast is any indication of what to expect I'd say pass. The prices of the cakes (sugar egg and flour last I checked) are OBSCENE to the point of ridiculousness. 60 dollars plus tax for a small cake? What a joke and an insult to customers everywhere. Unreal that Opera thinks so highly of this place and the owners here have clearly taken advantage of that fact. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day? There won't be a second chance on this one for us. Highly dissapointing. I see high praises for the bakery side of things but again, SIXTY DOLLARS. If you are willing to let them rob you then by all means encourage the price gouging behavior. I believe in fair prices and only one way...
