Tip: call to find best time to make a reservation or you may get stuck with left over, grim, slim pickings when it comes to tables.
I went here tonight for a birthday dinner. Our reservation was for 7. We arrived at a few minutes past (we were seated by 7:05 so not late). The host spent more than a minute searching during the check in spot. I know my husband confirmed the reservation and that he made it several weeks ahead of time. That’s why I was honestly a little shocked by the first option for a table - directly next to the door, set for 2 but obviously intended for 4 and it would be clear we’d be jostled by every single person moving through the restaurant. When I paused out of disappointment, the host offered us a table against the wall but directly across from the door. Not ideal either, but okay. The host noticed my dismay (we had heard from other diners that it was a cozy, romantic spot). His response was “tables are hard to come by at this time.” That’s why we had a reservation?!? I felt like we got some crappy leftover spot because we were new to the restaurant. I struggled to get over my disappointment even though our server was kind and the food was nice. It was a bummer of a birthday diner.
Within 5 minutes be being seated, another pair of diners were seated at the crappy slap-dash spot. They ordered, ate, and left well before we did, obviously not that interested in their spot either.
There was no place to put our coats, even though it was raining. I ended up with it folded next to me on the banquet, as if I was at a diner.
By 7:45, there were 8 tables open.
We would have been happy to have a reservation at a different time. We could also have waited at the bar for a table if there had been a delay. But to be treated with a sort of “hey you get what you get” attitude really soured the whole experience.
Obviously, this restaurant has major problems with their reservation management.
What was worse was that the host and other staff kindly held the door for diners but didn’t manage to get the curtains drawn until about an hour into our service (like other diners have noted, service was friendly but very slow). This meant our “you get what you get” table came with a pretty decent and repeated draft as groups of diners left.
Lots of room for improvement in the management...
Read moreI was so excited to visit this place again. Especially because I believe in investing in local businesses and I feel for the business owners who have suffered during the pandemic. I rarely write reviews, but I am so disappointed in my experience this evening. Because of COVID, I am separated from my family for weeks at a time because of restrictions. We have made due by video calls during dinner to have a sense of normalcy. I do this at the every restaurant to feel like I am having dinner with my family. Tonight I was interrupted by the restaurant manager and told that I had to take my call off of video because someone had complained. This told me that my business was not important; only the other table. They did not give me a chance to explain our situation or anything. I of courses complied because I am not one to make a public scene, but how heartless of them. I told my server that I was really upset and explained why these calls at dinner were so important. My $28 dinner was removed because of this. I did not want anything for free. I wanted to be able to talk to my loved ones as they are one hr behind the time zone here. Bottom line the dinner was okay. My server was really nice, but the management and owners should be ashamed. I am trying to be a Mom and Fiancée while working and tonight they made it extremely difficult. I would have understood if we were discussing something inappropriate, but we were talking about our dogs and our day. I made the point that had my fiancée been sitting across from me then they could not have said anything, but because I had him on video and it bothered someone, they were ignorant enough to request that I stop seeing my family. How heartbreaking and disappointing. I will make sure to go anywhere but here again as they have no sympathy for people like me who have to live their life by video. My fiancée is a radio show host and I cannot wait for him to use this as a topic because of how...
Read moreI was really pleased with my experience at etc restaurant. I made reservations by calling an hour in advance on a Tuesday night. The gentleman who took the reservation was extremely kind and thorough.
I arrived with my party and was immediately asked if it was a business meeting so that they could offer me an option of a closed in booth in the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen. I was interested in seating outside, however they were already booked up there.
The waitress was amazing. Her bubbly personality and knowledge about food added to the overall experience. We ordered a round of cocktails which arrived within 15 minutes. All of them were delicious.
We ordered some appetizers, including sourdough bread with two butters, and brussels sprouts. For my meal I ordered an appetizer and a salad. I got smoked salmon and beet salad. A gentleman in my party ordered veal. I was pleased to see a few vegetarian options, including tofu scallops that was a main course.
Our appetizers were pretty good. I enjoyed sourdough bread, but brussel sprouts were just a bit too fatty for me. Chunks of bacon were definitely not a good addition.
Main courses arrived in a reasonable time frame and was very visually appealing. The colors on each of the plates were so diverse that we could not wait to actually try our meals.
My beet salad was quite delicious. I would highly recommend it. The flavors and depth of the sauce were unusual to say the least. In general, we found our meals very unique. So refreshing to see a restaurant like this in Green hills.
Smoke salmon was a bit odd because it was served on top of a deep fried rice cake, but the combination of wasabi with smoked salmon was a hit! Other main courses were just as delicious, as my colleagues shared.
Overall, a very positive experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially to those who are looking for a unique experience. I...
