We were looking for breakfast, something that was not a chain. We were not impressed. Guests who were done eating were essentially blocking the doorway once we got inside. When we walked in, we had to weave through tables to get around them. No staff acknowledged that we had walked in. Although as we walked up they laid a sign down that said what their specials were for the day. We thought that was odd, and we still were not greeted. We looked at the case, decided what we wanted and ordered. They were out of several things even though it did not appear that they were as we pointed to what we wanted. They asked if we wanted our food warmed up. We said yes. It was lukewarm at best and microwaved. Someone came in behind us, they were not greeted either, and walked out without ordering. The food was mid. One of the things we ordered was sausage with bread around it, the bread was absolutely fresh and delicious and the only reason this is a 3 star and not a 2 star. The sausage was what looked like a Slim Jim. It was nasty. We were not offered a drink to go with our meal (common upsell). The "dessert" item my husband got was very good. My quiche was cold in the middle. I hate cold quiche. I would...
Read moreAs a transplanted Texan, I take my kolaches as seriously as most southerners take their barbecue. Even in the Lone Star State, the places that serve actual Tex-Czech kolaches are pretty much relegated to west and central Texas. My jaw pretty much hit the floor the first time I tried Yeast Nashville’s kolache offering.
It. is. SPOT. ON. Does it help that they get their sausage from Elgin? No, of course not. But the true secret is the bread with which the kolache is made. It’s very, very, very slightly sweet, yeasty, and a smidge heavier/denser than sandwich bread.
Couple those things with the perfect balance of cheese and jalapeños inside the kolache, and you’ve got yourself a perfect breakfast.
I’ve also had their bread pudding—equally reminiscent of that Central Texas cuisine—and really enjoyed it. It’s not overly sweet like a donut may be, it’s got the right balance.
I highly encourage you to order (early) from their website beforehand, especially on the weekend. The first time I went, the line was out the door and about 5 people deep waiting to get in.
Thanks to places like Yeast Nashville, I’m converting myself to a Nashvillian at...
Read moreFood was good but service was terrible. My kid goes to Vandy and I picked up breakfast for 8 of her friends today Apr 1 around 8:30 AM. Wanted to have the breakfast burritos in individual bags so it’s easy for kids to have individual meal. The person who took the order was ok with it and I paid a 15% tip over and top of the order price coz I am asking them to wrap it individually. The middle aged lady who brought the 8 food bags from the back basically threw the food at the counter and commented “don’t know why anyone would order the breakfast burritos to be individually wrapped” in a very annoyed way and left. If u have the Question ask at the time of getting the order and if you can’t accommodate a request then politely decline and don’t take the order. I am not asking for free food and on the other hand I tipped you more than the norm for the extra work. Worst service and you are not setting a good example for the younger kids working and visiting your shop I would give a 0 star for service if this app...
