Retrograde is quickly becoming one of my favorite coffee shops.
To start, parking is refreshingly easy and plentiful, especially compared to other coffee shops in the area.
The interior features ample seating, large windows, and a calming atmosphere that is perfect for focused work.
A creature of habit, I have only tried one of their drinks thus far, but the Kavlatte has not disappointed me each time I've ordered it. Bonus points for the option to get your drink in either a to-go cup or a glass if you're sticking around!
The true standout aspect of each of my experiences at Retrograde has been the delightful staff. Truly leagues more friendly and personable than any other coffee shop I've frequented. Everyone I have interacted with has been incredibly welcoming and kind.
I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, whether they are grabbing a coffee for the road, or planning to sit down and work or catch up...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place but unfortunately had such a bad experience I probably won’t come back. The guy at the counter wasn’t friendly from the start. no smile, no hello, just “what can I get you”.
I ordered a latte to go. I chose not to tip because I am not being served, I’m not using dishes, I’m not even sitting at a table. I’m getting my drink and leaving.
I selected no tip and completed the transaction. I paid with apple pay which is the only way I caught that the amount was higher than what my total showed on screen. I asked them about it and they said my new total was with a 20% tip. I told them I didn’t tip and the only way they could have refunded me was giving me change back.
I ended up just telling them I wanted a full refund and wasn’t interested in the coffee anymore. I’m not paying $8.41 for a coffee to go and am so curious how a 20% tip ended up on there when I clearly saw my total at $7.11....

To my taste it was borderline light but main issue that is was either wasn't bloomed properly or was poured over much longer than it should be which resulted in burnt taste (shouldn't be light roast specific) and bitterness. So that experience wasn't good but also I noticed that whole room was in white oil smoke which contributed to a desire to leave asap. Dunno how people even can eat there with that strong smell. So finished not that good coffee even faster to run away asap. Coffee experience didn't worth almost $10 I paid. Some "DRIP" coffee shops have much better...
