I've talked about hot chicken before but earlier this year we took a trip to Nashville where we got to experience the original first hand. When we visited we stayed at the @gaylordoprylandresort (a bit removed from the city but beautiful facility) and across from the hotel is a random sports bar called @scoreboardnashville. When you walk in it looks like a normal sports bar but what you might not realize until you start eating (I can testify) is that Scoreboard is one of Nashville's top hot chicken joints. Let's talk about makes these hot chicken tenders so great: 1. Consistency: hot chicken is extremely crisp - it's as if it's twice fried while still being super juicy on the inside 2. Flavor: hot chicken is a bit of a slow burn, starts mild but turns hot quick for a fun and delicious flavor. The chicken is marinated hot and then powdered with extra spices 3. Fries: fries were nice and crispy, dipping them in ranch tastes great If you happen to be staying at the Gaylord in Nashville and are craving hot chicken definitely check out Scoreboard.

If you like drinking and listening to music this is probably a good place to be. If you are looking for good barbeque this place will probably disappoint. We had the smoked sampler which consisted of pulled pork and chicken, smoked sausage, Texas style brisket, ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, and cornbread. The ribs were the best, they had a good smoked flavor and the sauce was decent. But the ribs had a lot of fat and gristle. The brisket had little flavor and was very fatty. The chicken and pork really lacked flavor. It did not seem like either was seasoned and the pork tasted a little watery. The sausage had a really mild flavor and tasted more like it was grilled than smoked. The beans were ok but again lacking real flavor to make them special. The cole slaw was ok but a bit watery. The cornbread was like a flattened hush puppy that had been over fried. It was a bit hard to byte in to and was very dry. Even the barbeque sauce they provide with the meal was just ok, nothing special. Overall, this was below average BBQ that really lacked seasoning and flavor. On the plus side the staff was friendly and the food came out quickly.

We are just driving through Nashville and happened across Scoreboard. Went in without any expectations, but was hoping for some TN charm. We were really happy with everything. Our server Paige was very friendly and accommodating to my family's odd variety of food allergies. She was quick to offer great suggestions including a gluten free pizza with one half without sauce that my boys could share. They loved it - didn't taste like it was GF at all. My wife had the chicken and waffles and thought that was great too. Crispy / tender chicken and waffles that tasted sweet like fair food. I went with the Philly Beef (can't remember the name but had Irish in it). That was super good too. Afterwards we walked up to check out the live music and enjoyed some really well done Bob Marley covers. My one suggestion would be to add a kids menu, but beyond that we loved it all. If we're back through Nashville I'd be happy to check it out again.

The service was so slow here that opened a tab at the bar. 3 bartenders standing around... just standing. We are from Green Bay and this was identified as a Packer bar. They did have the Packer game on and there were a bunch of Packer fans. I would say almost the whole bar were Packer fans. The game started the TV's were blaring the game... and then... a half hour in to the game. A fricking band started. Really...? And yes I know I'm in Nashville... but for God's sake don't promote yourself as a Packers bar and then play a band during the game. The only good thing was the food, when it finally came out, was delicious. The e other option is J's sports bar south of Nashville, next time we're going there. There were people grumbling all throughout the establishment because a dang band was playing. Anyone reading this go to J's if you want to watch the game. Or hit the liquor store and gather in your hotel room and order pizza.

This spot is tucked away behind the main highway. We actually found it by accident and thought we would give it a try. Located behind the Nashville Palace. Stopped on a very cool evening. It was about beer:30 so we started with a couple of cold ones and then ordered an entree to share. This is an open table, seat yourself kinda place. It took a bit to get service once we sat, but after that they kept up with us very well. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Food was not bad either. We tried the Cajun Chicken bites plate, mild, with a side of mac and cheese. Food was back in a reasonable time considering the place was pretty full. Food was hot, fresh, tasty and had a kick. Definitely a good call to come here. Live band was great and the ambiance was perfect. Definitely make this a stop when in town again.

The music was decent, not as good as Music City Live behind them. But I was consistent and decent. The food was mediocre +. I’ve had better Hot Chicken in Houston. The big draw back here, and reason for the rating was the service. I ate here three different nights. Every time the service was terrible. Every single time I got food, I never received utensils, and would sit there for ten minutes for a fork and napkin. They would get my drink order wrong. I asked for one tv to be put on a certain game. The server said she would check. She never mentioned it again, almost like I didn’t even ask. If you want a drink and decent music, it’s a great place for that. If you need service and food, roll the dice. Maybe I caught them on their three worst days. I hope so.
