We called a few weeks in advance to reserve tables for a large party coming to celebrate a birthday. We were told no reservations. It was first come first serve. We arrive early so we can get a big enough area and there were multiple tables reserved for large parties with their names on the tables. I asked one of the servers and she said “you have to know the manager”. Because we arrived early 5:30pm for a band that supposedly started at 7, we found some tables together. After sitting for over 30 minutes, I had to go to bar and request service. The band plays in an outdoor covered area and it was a TN summer night and it was 95 degrees with very high humidity. I ordered a Fishbowl Margarita. I’m not sure what the drink was that he brought but it was super sweet and definitely not a margarita. The Fishbowl was supposedly for more than one person. The Fishbowl is the size you win at a fair with a goldfish in it. Definitely not for multiple people. It was on the table all night full because nobody could drink it. He still charged us $30 for that small drink. Me and several other people ordered Chicken Quesadillas. They come out and they cooked them with hot chicken and it was already 100 degrees outside. There was a good band playing while we waited for the band we came to see. By this time, it’s 7, we have had water and Hot Chicken which we couldn’t eat. The band we came to see did not start until 9pm. All advertisements said 7. During this 3 1/2 hour waiting period, the people who ordered buckets of beer had something to drink. The rest who ordered mixed drinks were lucky to get one drink and we had to go to multiple bars outside of our tab to get them. This place would be so cool and I will give it another shot at some point because of the atmosphere, but the service is slow if you are lucky enough to be served and a majority of the female bartenders were rude. I found out during our time there the fans they have for cooling the area were not working. We were there eating hot food without drinks in 100 degree heat until after 11. The service could be much better and if they advertise a performance, it shouldn’t start 2 hours late while making customers sit in 100 degree heat without something to drink. I basically kept going to the bar for cups of ice. I have not been to Scoreboard in a few years, but they are not what they once were. It still has a great dive bar atmosphere and I will give it another shot, but overall we were disappointed with our visit and our experience. I was a server for years and rarely complain, but I felt I needed to say something this time due to the multiple...
Read moreI was visiting Nashville for a conference and I was staying downtown and saying there were plenty of places to go to is an understatement. However, a buddy of mine picked me up and took me to his go to place...and it's this Scoreboard Bar & Grill location on Music Valley Drive (across from the Gaylord).
He was not wrong. This place is great! First off, it's a large place and had live music. I don't remember who was playing that night, but one person was playing and then another guy started playing and both were very good.
We got drinks first and I asked for a Cinnamon Spiced Whisky Mule. He got a beer. They had the correct whiskey for the drink. I tried this at other places in Nashville and they used Fireball and Jack Daniels Fire. Neither are Cinnamon Spiced Whiskey. They are, but not the right ones for the mule. The correct brand is Standard Proof Whiskey Company. I had the drink and my buddy tasted it and then ordered his own. Both bartenders tasted it and were hooked. The rest of the night they recommended my drink to others looking for a smooth cocktail to enjoy while listening to the music.
By the way, Standard Proof Whiskey is a Nashville company.
Anyway, back to Scoreboard. We had a couple drinks and then ordered some food. We got the wings and chicken bites. The wings were meaty and juicy and the Old Hickory BBQ sauce was really good. The chicken bites were also great. There were a ton of them and they were also meaty and juicy. Normally a chicken bite or nugget are dry after being fried, but these were great and filling, too!
Both bartenders went off shift (so we tipped them before they ended their shift) and then they joined us for some of the mules while we all listened to the live music. Had a great night and the bill was inexpensive for the number of drinks we had and the food.
They had a large outdoor area with tables and looked like a great spot when the weather was nice and warm. I wish there was a place like this near me!
Come for the live music, stay for the friendly service,...
Read moreSavannah is a blonde girl that was running the inside bar area. I called in to order a to- go- order for one person. She answered, Scoreboard Opry can you hold? I said yes. 12 minutes I was on hold. She never came back and it didn't sound busy. When I got there, i went to the bar inside and talked to her while I was still on the phone, on hold by her. Savannah only had 7 people at the bar. 5 were at the bar in their own group and enjoying themselves and not asking her for anything. Anyways, I told her my order while still on hold hearing my voice on the phone. She had no idea that I was the person she put on hold for 12 - 15 minutes at that time. So, I place my order with her. She didn't ask if I would like something to drink. She never talked to me except when I have her my card and then she brought my order. I never saw her serving others as good bartenders do to make you feel welcomed. So, I paid for my order with no tip as I could see she was there to collect a paycheck. After I got my order. I went outside, talked to 2 different servers. One was not surprised. One said that Savannah had had several complaints, but didn't realize she was actually still there tonight as she was filling in and said Shoemaker SCOREBOARD had gotten several complaints about Savannah. I never write companies on anyone. But Savannah is an exception. I'm not perfect. But a incompetent person would be able to provide better interaction than Savannah did. So, Savannah got a $0.00, no tip from me. She definitely needs to go. Scoreboard would be better off short handed than staffed w someone that provides pathetic service bc...
