Long story short: They refused to mix whole and skim milk in an iced latte for me. Seriously. Which is totally bizarre. I felt like I was getting pranked or had entered an alternate universe. 𤷠. . . Short story long: I had a bizarre, unbelievable experience here. I ordered an iced latte. Milk options are whole or skim. I asked to mix the whole and skim, like I've done here and at countless other coffee shops in the past, forever. Until this visit, that is. Because they refused to mix the whole and skim milks in my latte. The barista, who attempted to take my order, was extremely nice and pleasant, said he couldn't mix the milks in my drink because it was against company policy, and that if he did, he would get in trouble š¤·. At first, I really thought he was joking and it took me a moment to realize he was serious. Another barista then chimed in "Plus, it would be a bacterial contamination risk."
Not feeling like giving a barista #2 a basic science lesson, or staying any longer in the Twilight Zone, I left. And I won't go back.
Until this bizarre experience, I would go out of my way to stop at The Well for an iced latte. Which is really saying something, based on how many great coffee shops there are in Nashville. It will forever confound me that a business, such as The Well Coffeehouse could micromanage to the level of not allowing an employee to mix two types of milks for a customer's drink. Which they had done up until this point for me at the same location in the past. And every other coffee shop in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would normally rate this location 5 stars. It is hands down one of the best coffee shops in Nashville in terms of consistency and friendliness. I specifically come to this location very often. However, I came in Friday (Aug 25) around 2:30 and the male barista working was very rude. My friend and I stood at the register for a while before we were ever even acknowledged because the baristas were in the middle of personal conversation. We place our orders and wait. As soon as I taste my drink, I know itās wrong. I donāt taste any syrup in my latte and I NEVER complain about a drink. Iāve had more mediocre coffees in Nashville than Iāve had good and I just drink them. But the well has my favorite latte and I was disappointed, so I decide to ask if more syrup can be added. We stand at the counter and the male barista REFUSES to acknowledge or even look at us. The female barista finally comes over and I explain the issue. She even asked him if he put the syrup in the drink knowing he probably didnāt. He had an attitude about the whole situation. If he had just fixed the drink without being rude, I wouldnāt be leaving a review like this for my favorite coffee shop, but here we are. Please learn to treat your customers with more respect. I was very nice when I asked if my drink could be fixed and I almost just left because I didnāt want to be seen as a burden. Iāve never had an issue here until this visit and the whole experience put a very bad taste...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo me coffee prep must be consistent and the beans must be fresh everytime. Coffee has so many flavor notes that the interesting thing to me is trying out something unique. If I buy a bag it should taste something close to what the roaster determined on the bag. I should be able to prepare it at home and get similar results with my processes. The Well Coffeehouse in Nashville has always met these goals and is my premiere coffee roaster for the ones I have visited across the US. I donāt bother with coffee shops anymore as the best prep, service, flavour, and personal training come from roasters. I am surprised to see a 4.6 from them. All 5 locations I have visited have consistent coffee, good service, interesting staff, and a good blog. I donāt personally care about cozy, nice furniture, someone smiled etc. How is their coffee? Top tier in my experience. The gold star so far as I compare everyone to them. I am slightly jealous of people in Nashville for their access to The Well...
