This place is a cool old Methodist Women's missionary college (conference center now) that is right next to music row and Vanderbilt college. Tons of cool stuff to easily walk to. The campus/conference center is so beautiful, great location and the cost is unbelievable for being in the midst of town (Got a room for two for $50 and free parking for my car). Now the down side... This is really only a place to stay if you plan on being out and taking advantage of the great location the whole time. The rooms are nothing to brag about. No frills. Outdated/utilitarian/hard furniture. Think stark retreat center. The grounds themselves are gorgeous though. :-) Staying there is all about your frame of mind. If you are someone who travels in Europe and stays in youth hostels to save money yet be close to where all the fun stuff is, this is for you. If you are a huge primper and have to have posh surroundings, don't even look at this place. You would be disappointed by the accommodations. If you stay, plan on getting your keys early and staying out late and only using the room for sleeping then jumping into your day. It's a very bare bones room. I enjoyed the location and all the money I...
Read moreThe Scarritt-Bennett Center is a treasure for those who want simplicity, nature, sacred surroundings and affordability. If you are looking for upscale accommodations, this is NOT the place for you. I stayed 5 nights at the location. During my stay i not only enjoyed walking around the beautiful grounds and learning about the rich history; but I also savored walking through the neighborhood and to downtown Nashville to some attractions and places to dine for my vegan appetite. (Yes, I could have taken an Uber to get to many places within 10-15 minutes, but I enjoy my walks). Scarritt-Bennett has a dining hall on campus with an excellent chef that prepared some vegan dishes that more than wowed. I had a couple meals on campus during my stay. And there were some events on the campus that I missed because I already had other plans. My stay was not only about affordability but about supporting an organization with faith and racial...
