When I arrived I requested all 4 rooms of my extended family be on the same floor (4 rooms total). The hotel staff member put in a request and we were all put on the 7th (top) floor even though we were coming in on different days. We really appreciated this.
My family had a 2 bedroom suite with tons of windows and a view of the pool, also a large kitchen/living area with a big table and 4 chairs, Rm 724. Overall, our room was really spacious and a great room for the 8-12 of us to gather and play card games and visit. We stayed 6 nights. It was really nice have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for an extended stay. It was reasonably priced for the size of the rooms. Beds were firm but comfy. Pillows were fluffy. I slept well with the black out curtains.
We also utilized the game/pool room when some local family members came by after dinner. We enjoyed playing ping pong. My son and I had to set up the net that we found under the sink.
My 11 year old son was the only person willing to use the pool. He had a blast and had the pool several times to himself. I waded in the shallow end and it was definitely heated but not warm enough for me to get in.
One group, also had a 2 bedroom but it felt more like a cave. The bedrooms were right when you entered on the left and there was a long hallway and then the kitchen/living area with one large window and a small kitchen table with 2 chairs, Rm 714. No windows in the bedrooms.
One group had a studio in 716. No complaints other than it took a minute for them to figure out how to adjust the thermostat to AC. But it worked.
The other group had a one bedroom in 710 and couldn’t get the room temp right, AC didn’t work and said it was stuffy. Also, they had some plumbing issues.
I don’t think anyone was able to come up from maintenance to fix the AC. At least we didn’t have time to wait around for maintenance. This is my biggest criticism of our stay.
In our room, 724, once we adjusted the thermostat and set it to “cool” we were able to get the room to 70 degrees. It had been 74 the first night and was a little stuffy. The HVAC system was a little loud and we could hear it from our room at night but nothing I couldn’t sleep through. At least that’s what I think it was.
Having a laundry machine was great but it was too loud to run at night before bed. We brought our own laundry sheets. I’m not sure if they have soap for guests at the front desk but there wasn’t any provided in the room.
The coffee machine was a Keurig style machine and they provided pods. You could get more from the lobby. It was fine to get a quick cup in the morning if you aren’t too picky. Use the smallest coffee cup button to make the coffee unless you like your coffee super weak.
The location was fine for us but a bit of a hike to broadway. Approx 30 min walk, 20 min walk to the Gulch and 10 min walk to Midtown. Lots of places to eat and drink and listen to music close by. The closest grocery was Whole Foods, about a 20 min walk. A new Turnip Truck market is opening soon about 6 min away and that will be great for those who don’t have a car. The hotel stocked some drinks, snacks and frozen/instant food for sale in the lobby. We just like having cereal/fresh fruit for our kiddos for breakfast. Also to try local beer/cider or wine so it’ll be great when it opens in probably a month. It also looks like a new Ramen shop is opening up close by too!
It was about a $35 Lyft ride including tip to and from the airport. The rest of my extended family had cars and most nights were able to find street parking. My parents didn’t want to walk as far so they used valet a couple times. $39/night.
The staff was always...
Read moreDuring our recent stay at Hotel Motif Nashville from August 22-26. Our stay was marred by a series of issues that left us feeling frustrated and inconvenienced.
Upon our arrival, we witnessed a fellow guest in the lobby expressing her frustration at being moved multiple times during her stay. Despite the initial room changes being the hotel's fault, she was asked to pay the difference for an upgraded room she was moved to on her own accord. This lack of accountability from the management was concerning and should have been a red flag for us.
During our stay, we were contacted around 6 am via a text from a unknown MALE claiming to be a maintenance worker who asked to enter our room to fix a leak in the the room below us me. This raised serious safety and privacy concerns and we initially thought that the text was a hoax. After questioning if the text was a scam, we received a call from the front desk manager, Jonae, who agreed to relocate us to another room. The new room we were relocated to did not include a balcony which we had paid additional for, in fact, it was a downgrade. When we requested compensation for the inconvenience, we were met with initial resistance from Jonae. After informing Jonae we expected compensation for the inconvenience, she agreed to 50% off that nights stay.
During our stay we also learned that we were eligible for the military rate, which a front desk clerk agreed to apply at check out. However, despite being promised the discount, Jonae refused to apply the military rate citing the servicemember should have elected the US Government rate when reserving. It is important to note that military rates and US government rates are distinct, with different eligibility criteria and benefits. The failure to differentiate between these rates showcases a lack of training and attention to detail in customer service.
Additionally, we encountered a guest who informed us that her air conditioning was not functioning the night before, and she had learned that the majority of hotel guests also experienced issues with their air conditioning. This added to our concerns about the overall maintenance and service standards at the hotel.
The incident where my personal phone number was given to a male maintenance worker without my consent raises serious safety and privacy concerns. The lack of professionalism in handling such matters and the overall disregard for guest welfare is alarming. The initial communication should have come from the hotel manager by direct contact or by contacting the phone located in our room. It is clear that Jonae could benefit from additional training in the hospitality industry in order to make this hotel more competitive, service orientated, and inviting.
Despite the challenges we faced, I must commend the remaining front desk staff and other hotel employees who assisted us during our stay. In particular, working with front desk staff such as Selma and bellman Moses was a pleasure, as they exhibited professionalism, attentiveness, and a genuine willingness to help amidst the difficulties we encountered.
In summary, I strongly advise women, military personnel, and guests seeking a positive customer experience to avoid staying at Hotel Motif Nashville due to the substandard service, lack of accountability, issues with room quality and maintenance, and disregard for...
Read moreOverall, our stay was great for the price point.
The pros: location was very close to major Nashville attractions and live music without being in the middle of town. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby. There was free street parking if you got lucky, so we only had to park in the garage one night ($27/night). the washer/dryer was utilized frequently due to having a toddler. The pool was a great temperature, with towels provided. The texting service for room service requests was awesome, very timely. If you are trying to site see the city, the Old Town Trolley has a stop just a few minute walk away which was extremely convenient. The bedrooms had lots of space for clothing and storage.
The cons/room for improvement: No tub in our 2 bedroom suite so be mindful if you have little ones that require one for bathing. The cleanliness of the room on arrival left something to be desired. There were lots of scuffs on the walls and fingerprints left on the fridge when we arrived, and most of the doors did not seal/latch properly and were noisy when opening/closing. Note that room service only comes after 4 days, which is clearly listed on our reservation. Our stay was 3 nights. What was lacking was extra supplies to keep the rooms tidy. We only had a small sized trash in the kitchen with no extra trash bags, for example, as well as 4 coffee pods for 3 adults for 3 days. Extra trash bags, a small broom, more coffee pods all would have been immensely helpful. I can forgive this since we could have called for a room clean at any point but chose not to.
The pool was very crowded on this hot weekend and it was clear that many of the people at the pool were not hotel guests (a group at one point said “ok 7 of us are headed back to the Air BnB see you all at home!” To about 10 other people). I will note everyone was well behaved and it was not too rowdy. The washer and dryer was utilized but you must supply your own laundry pods (which they do sell in lobby) which I thought was interesting since the dishwasher came with a pod to start.
I should note that when we needed extra trash bags, the text room service feature was amazing. I received a response very quickly, and within minutes someone was at our doorstep to provide us with more trash bags. There were some small quirks that we were able to overlook due to the great location and price point. This place was family friendly and overall a...
