I can't believer I've never done a review of the Peppermill. I've been here several times over the years , but it has been a while since I was here last and I'm a local. I've brought some Army buddies in when they've came to town and as a Bellman at the Bellagio I send people here all the time. I get asked where is the nearest Denny's and I'm like , " No , you're in Las Vegas. You can eat at Denny's anywhere but here. " " You need to go to the Peppermill " and of course other Bellmen will chime in and say the same thing.
I did a Staycation at the Linq and made it down here for breakfast my last day. Of course if you didn't know the portions are large. You will have to take some home or get a plate to share. I got the Country Style Ham and Eggs which comes with a 16 ounce flame broiled bone-in ham steak , 3 farm fresh eggs which I got scrambled and it seemed like a little more than 3 , hash browns that were cooked perfectly not overcooked and dry , choice of Blueberry or Lemon Cranberry Muffin or Bagel with Cream Cheese or Toast or English Muffin. They were unfortunately out of Blueberry Muffins so I got the Lemon Cranberry which I didn't like , so my waitress replaced with the Bagel with Cream Cheese. Of course I wasn't able to finish all this , so I got a to go for my half of Ham Steak I had left and a little bit of eggs.
The waitress was new and in training. She was very nice , but you could see she was just learning and another waitress was helping her. I love the decor of the Peppermill , 1970's with neon lights and plants all around like your in Hawaii or a Tiki Bar or Discotech kind of feel. Large booths to sit at with your family and friends and bar if you want to eat there. My food came out pretty quickly and I also had Arnold Palmer since they don't serve sweet tea which most places in Vegas don't except for bbq restaurants. My only complaint is the prices have went up significantly since the last time I was here. I know prices have went up at all restaurants since the pandemic , but here they went up a lot. My total was $35 before Tip.
The Fireside Lounge is located in the back and is so cool. It is a sunken bar with a fire pit going and the same decor as the restaurant. I will definitely come back to get like a Pina Colada and play some video poker. Back in the day many celebrities came to the Fireside Lounge and the restaurant to include Elvis , Frank Sinatra , comedian Jerry Lewis, actress Debbie Reynolds, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, boxer Floyd Mayweather, magician Criss Angel, mobster Frank Cullotta, and television personality Holly Madison. Comedian Penn Jillette is also a fan of the Peppermill, and while designing his Las Vegas home in the mid-1990s, he included a booth modeled after those at the restaurant.
The Peppermill has also been featured in many movies to include 1984 film The Cotton Club, 1995 films Showgirls and Casino, and the 2016 film The Trust.
It has also been featured on television programs, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. In addition, the lounge appears in the music videos for "Feel It Coming Back" (2014) by Santana and Diego Torres, and "Another Lonely Night" (2015) by...
Read moreFinally Got to Enjoy the Pepper Mill Without the Chaos **★★★★☆
Okay, so we’ve been to the Pepper Mill before and honestly, it was a nightmare. Packed to the gills, couldn’t find parking, waited forever for a table. But this time we were smart about it – went on a Saturday morning at 7am and wow, what a difference!
Got parking right away, walked straight in and got seated immediately. Our coffee server was on top of things, keeping our cups full the whole time. The only hiccup was that our actual waiter kind of forgot we existed in our corner booth for a while. We had to flag someone down and ask for service, but once we got his attention, everything was smooth sailing from there. No big deal really – I get it, restaurants get busy and people make mistakes. Get ready for HUGE portions and a BIG menu.
The food was really good though. Everything came out hot and fresh, which is exactly what you want for breakfast. The portions were generous too – definitely got our money’s worth. It’s comfort food done right, nothing fancy but executed well.
But honestly, the atmosphere is what makes this place special. It’s been around since 1972 and you can tell – it has that authentic Vegas vibe that you just can’t fake. Those flamingo lamps, the royal blue booths, all those mirrors everywhere, and that fire pit in the middle of everything. It’s like stepping back in time to when Vegas was all about that retro glam.
And the Hollywood history is pretty cool too. The Fireside Lounge next door is where they filmed those famous scenes from Casino with De Niro and Sharon Stone. Plus it’s been in a bunch of other movies and shows. You can definitely see why directors would want to film here – the whole place just screams “classic Vegas.”
Speaking of the Fireside Lounge, that 64-ounce Scorpion cocktail is legendary. Haven’t tried it yet but it’s definitely on my bucket list for next time.
Look, is this place a bit touristy? Sure. But there’s a reason tourists flock here – it’s the real deal. The food is solid, the atmosphere is unmatched, and it’s got more character than most places on the Strip. Just do yourself a favor and go early in the morning like we did. You’ll actually be able to enjoy it without feeling like you’re in a cattle herd.
If you want that authentic old-school Vegas experience with good food and a side of movie history, this place delivers. Just don’t go during peak hours unless you enjoy chaos with...
Read moreI was there during the January 25’ CES show. Arrived around 7am for an early breakfast. My go to breakfast meal is usually an omelette. I chose the Maserati omelette. Described in the menu: “A superb omelette, bursting with ground sausage, jack and cheddar cheese and mushrooms, smothered in a perfect Italian meat sauce, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.” Served with hash brown potatoes and a blueberry muffin.
At first glance, the meal when served looked pretty appetizing, with the decent size portions. However, consumption of this meal ultimately turn into a less than par culinary experience.
Given that I am a connoisseur of breakfast omelettes, I have to say this was the most disappointing omelette I’ve ever eaten.
In fact, it was so bad that I ate less than half. What was surprising, they forgot to blend in the ground sausage, and the menu didn’t specify that they would be using what tasted like imitation eggs!
Take a look at the close-up picture of the omelette, it looked and tasted grainy, similar to imitation eggs that you can purchase nowadays at most supermarkets.
Given the high price of $25 for this omelette breakfast, I’m quite surprised at the low quality of egg product that they chose to use.
The location, the parking, and the Las Vegas style and colorful bright lights ambience/decor are the highlights for this restaurant. Not so much their omelette breakfast!
The lounge area was unique, equally colorful with its fire pit and step down lounge area, as well as the bar very nicely laid out. Have no idea of the quality of the drinks, however.
For me, I’m there for the food, notwithstanding the fact that they have a lovely atmosphere, good service, etc. but if the food ain’t good… It’s plain and simple a downer for me!
I personally would not return to this establishment. However, as a tourist town, I would recommend everyone try it at least once and draw your own conclusions.
Bon...
