True Texas BBQ — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Not sure why this place gets such a low rating overall. My biggest complaint is they never have regular tea or even sweet tea. They do have plenty of mango/strawberry/pomegranate/tutti-frutti whatever tea that I don’t drink. I always have to ask counter staff to refill my tea in their kitchen. Which is a hassle when there is a long line of people ordering.

The brisket and Turkey are excellent and well priced. I buy a beef sandwich and some Turkey for my wife. The beans are usually excellent but not much brisket in the beans I’ve noticed.

Some of the customers dining here are terrible. I stood in line and some lady touched me from behind. Just some real trashy people who like to hang out here and bother everybody.

It’s nice to eat and then do grocery shopping when you’re full. And the happy hour prices are awesome on Tuesdays. I hope they can get more NORMAL tea available, and I’ll change my rating.

Overall, I would recommend this place to family...

First time trying this BBQ. Menu looked great but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Ordered two meat plate, brisket (fatty) and sausage. Brisket was dry and tough, sausage was really a complete let down... very tough casing (not edible). Brisket Beans were mostly liquid and not very flavorful. Brisket nachos were okay but average at best. They were out of cherry cobbler so no desert! Two choices of BBQ sauce, both were good. There is a lot of potential (giving this location a 3 instead of a 2 because it is so new) for True Texas BBQ and I would really like to see this location improve, but changes are needed! One cashier... one restroom, so be prepared to wait in line for both. Bill Miller's has been very disappointing lately and I was hoping for a new breath of fresh air with this location, but with competitors nearby such as Black's, Rudy's, etc... it...

This is my second order from here. The first order was ok. But just ok. This time it was not even close. Where to begin... The chopped and sauced brisket is so greasy it ruins the meat. I mean grease literally pours out. It is also not very flavorful and there was way too much inedible fat. Ordered extra sauce and did not receive it. The coleslaw is just ok. Nothing special. The banana pudding was a container with 3 vanilla wafers on top of a giant amount of whip cream and some bananas. NO PUDDING. Are u kidding me? $3 for a tiny little scoop of whip cream? No thanks. The sausage was dry, tasteless and overcooked. The chicken was the only edible food in our order. Get it together over there folks. For myself I will not be returning until I have heard they...
