They used to be comparable in quality & quantity to Chipotle… but I don’t know what happened. While the taste is roughly the same, I think the workers have recently been trained to skimp us A LOT? It’s a little ridiculous that I have to ask for extra toppings for my bowl to be full, when I already ask for almost every topping there is to be added!! And these bowls are like $2 more than Chipotle too (if you get chicken)…
I don’t know if it’s because I’m going at night around midnight or later, but I’ve been consistently getting around 50-60% the quantity that I used to be getting. I ask for meat, he gives me the TINIEST SCOOP and puts it on the side of my bowl. Like the protein is NOT A SIDE, it’s supposed to be an important part of the meal?!?!? If you see the attached picture of the bowl, it literally has THREE MEATS requested and is still barely touching the lid. My boyfriend requested chorizo and he got TWO PIECES OF SAUSAGE. This is ridiculous and unacceptable, and I’m not sure what caused the decline in service— I used to take home bulging bowls multiple times a week!!! I was Excited for my El Jefe’s! and now I’m sad and will probably never eat here again.
Additionally, what happened to the lids & containers. I swear they just changed the bowls so they could give us less food… and today, me and my boyfriend were unable to open our bowls without breaking the lid? What is this quality?
If you want a TINY amount of tbh, good food at pretty high prices, go here!!! If you want good value, then I would not...
Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at Jefe ordered my usual—half steak, half shrimp. The server barely gave me any steak or shrimp, and I mean barely!!The portions were so small, it was hard to believe they were supposed to be full scoops. It felt like I was being rationed, and the worst part? After I asked for half steak and half shrimp, they took out pieces of steak from my bowl as if they were trying to save on inventory. I couldn’t understand why they’d do that after I specifically asked for a balance of both proteins. Even before scooping in the protein, they barely gave me rice to begin with. I had to ask for “extra” rice, which should’ve been the amount of rice I had from the beginning. This isn’t my first time at Jefe's, I was hoping they would improve. The management, which has obviously changed needs to reevaluate. I was very disappointed and still hungry. It’s clear that management is no longer paying attention to customer satisfaction the way they once did. The staff used to be friendly, accommodating to give you a fair portion for your money. Now, it feels like they’re just cutting corners. It’s such a shame to see the company go downhill. I’m extremely...
Read moreI visited this place while in town, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. My 7-year-old daughter even said she would rate it 1 star due to the sticky table and the light above our table constantly flickering. It made the dining experience uncomfortable, especially when we were eating in dim lighting every few minutes.
The food was a letdown and didn’t come close to the authentic Mexican cuisine I’m used to. I feel the high ratings might be influenced by college students who aren’t familiar with what real Mexican food should taste like. Additionally, it took a few minutes after we arrived for someone to acknowledge us.
What really bothered me, though, was the environment. There were two homeless individuals in the restaurant, one with a gallon of milk and the other sitting with a laptop. One of them smelled so bad it made the dining experience even worse. I don’t understand why such situations are allowed in a food establishment, as it created an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone.
Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. There are plenty of other places that offer better food and a more...
