I'll start off with the pros, nice establishment, clean, the staff was friendly. The food was ok, had the firecracker chicken (not what I originally ordered more below about this). The noodles where good chewy and stretchy, but the flavors were ok though, the chicken not sure but it felt like thai chili sauce (who doesn't love thai chili) but felt I could just make this myself.
The cons, portion size were small especially compared to promotional photos (which are usually embellished) and client photos (which are more important). Walking in they talk about being authentic to the North of China, unfortunately I'll still have to travel to Flushing Queens for true northern food. My wife who is from the north suggested the Lions Head meatball due to it being something they do eat in the north, they didn't have any so I had to choose the firecracker. It appeared as though they only had chicken and tofu. We also saw they had chun bing, but that wasn't available, they mention it in the store on a placard so I'm surprised they don't have that available. Also on the website they mention tanghulu (which I love so good!) but they also didn't have this as well. It's a unique concept they've been open for a few years never stopped by until today, I may give it a try...
Read moreFood is hit or miss. Sometimes it is delicious, sometimes it’s not prepared properly.
The real problem is the customer service, I ordered via GrubHub and got an order that was not prepared properly. I reached out to GrubHub to get the order remade and the restaurant was supposed to call me right away. They didn’t. So the next day I followed back up with Grubhub and they reached out to the restaurant and I was told again that the restaurant would be reaching out to me about a refund. The restaurant never did call me, though they claimed to GrubHub that they did. I provided my call log to GrubHub to show that I had not missed a call from Junzi not had they contacted me. After numerous attempts of GrubHub attempting to contact them and Junzi telling GrubHub that the manager wasn’t in yet and would be in later (regardless of when GrubHub called them), they began ignoring calls from Grubhub, finally after a few days GrubHub gave up trying to reach them and just refunded me.
It’s a shame because when the food is good, it is REALLY good, but when it’s bad it’s inedible and they refuse to...
Read moreAs a Chinese, I think the food here is good, but the girl at the front desk is a little racist. We visit the restaurant at 3 pm on 6.23. When we stepped in the restaurant, there was no other customers, she just had a glance at us and say nothing, no welcome and no hello, even we are so close to each others. I think, OK, no problem, maybe she's just a little cool. Several minutes later, three parties of white customers stepped in and she greeted to them from a far distance happily every time and said have a good day to them when they left even if a party of them didn't eat there(when we finished and left, she said nothing to us). So we put back the tip we are prepared to pay. We don't want to pay tips in a Chinese restaurant that...
