I ordered two pizzas with no cheese for carryout, only to get home and realize they had cheese. This is a small problem for my lactose intolerant stomach, so I called the store to ask for new pizzas. But, the manager said I would need to bring the pizzas back before they would make new ones or give me a refund.
My partner walked the mile back to Papa John’s in the rain without this last piece of knowledge or the cheesy pizzas, and while she was on her way, the manager called me back demanding to know that I was bringing the pizzas back. He asked for my address so he could send a delivery driver to recover the cheesy pizzas. I told him that it’s illegal and definitely unethical to resell them, but he would not be deterred.
When my partner arrived at the store, the manager asked her where the old pizzas were and would absolutely not solve the problem in any way. On the assumption that it was to ensure the pizzas were discarded (to prevent people from scamming them for free food?), she asked them if she could come back tomorrow, since it would be another 40 minutes before she could get the pizzas there anyways. The manager said no! With the explicit reason that the pizzas tomorrow would have to be thrown out and getting them back today meant he could still earn back the money from selling them!
This was after an hour, and it would take another half hour for her to get the pizzas back. After reading the other reviews, I’m not surprised to find another 2 reviews referencing the severe health code violation, and it could even explain some of the accounts of pizzas taking hours to get delivered and being cold on arrival.
So, after 2 round trips to Papa John’s, I have 0 edible pizzas, and none of my money back. All in all, a solid 0/10 customer...
Read moreI've placed a few orders here in the last six months without issue, but the service and food I received tonight were disappointing. It took TWO HOURS for my food to arrive. I called an hour in, and the man who answered was mumbling, placed me on hold, thought he placed me on hold and picked up thinking I was the other line twice, and finally came back and answered as if I was a new caller. I had to keep repeating the reason for my call. Not only that, but he told me "15 minutes" and then hung up on me. He was very rude and obviously didn't actually check how long because it took another 45 minutes after that.
My food did arrive hot, but it was apparent it was under a heat lamp. The cheese was dried out, the crust was hard, and the boxes were incredibly greasy. Not only that, but I got a half-full marinara sauce with my cheese sticks... Unacceptable. I have a reward that I guess I'll have to use at a different location because I'm not ordering...
Read moreWe travel nurse around the country, and frequent Papa John’s everywhere we go. This is hands-down the worst location in the entire United States we’ve ever been to. We always order pizza sauce for the stuffed crust and the packets are consistently a quarter of the way full, when we are paying for the sauce! I have to bring it back in every time, and usually some guy with dirty hands at the front just scoops more sauce into the container and hands it back to me covered in pizza sauce on the outside. There’s little to zero you know what’s given from any employee at this location. Every time you go in there are several people standing around waiting to be helped, the parking lot stays trashed, and overall the inside just doesn’t feel like it’s sanitary. Very unfortunate that this is the only location around New Haven. :-( Won’t be ordering out here again on...
