Popeyes on whalley was the original to the area. They had the best chicken around, but not as of late. They seem to neglect the steps to ensure that Popeyes authentic taste! Those steps are sifting their floor shaking the excessive flour of stirring chicken mid way through cooking! Results, unbearably hard on the exterior doughy in the inside rendering Bad chicken. One visit receiving this bad chicken doesn't necessary make me not wanna come back .but two weeks later on 1/26/18 around 6:30 pm drive through waiting 20 min to a distracted attendant, that messed the order up. Making us have to go back from East haven.. A little to expensive not to enjoy two consecutive visits. The time has come to lose the loyalty to that particular location in search of a location that quality product is personified as well as professionalism....Going back to return product for the last time the manger on duty made sure that my receipt was not given back to my wife on 1/26/18. Perhaps quality isn't the priority anymore, which use to be under the direction of Ms. Annie , Mr. John Wharton, Mr.Joe ,Ms Gardner! The quality left with them hassling their cook to repeat those steps. Time has changed and so has their quality! I guess they don't give a damn anymore. So in search of Popeyes that hasn't been around that has to prove they have the best.Obviously this location has...
Read moreI ordered a two-piece chicken meal and a classic chicken sandwich with extra mayo. A female and a gentleman came in behind me. I got my 2 piece meal 1st and then waited another 10 minutes for my classic chicken sandwich. The 2 people behind me got their meals before I got the rest of my order and the 2nd person ordered two chicken sandwiches. I was just wondering how that person got their chicken sandwiches before I got my chicken sandwiche, because I ordered mine before he even walked in. I had to let the person behind the counter know that I hadn't received the rest of my order in order to get my chicken sandwich. He had to come back and ask me exactly what it was I was waiting for. Then I was upset because I've been to other popeye's and had the same chicken sandwich the spicy one is a bit salty but the chicken sandwiches I got on Whalley Avenue was very greasy, and this was my second sandwich from them. I liked the chicken sandwiches at the other popeyes'. They were crispy and tasted good, not sure that I wanna go back to this...
Read moreThis is the best fried chicken in New Haven CT. Located in Whalley Avenue in New Haven about a mile from Yale University and deep in the inner city you will find this gem. My wife ordered the Family feast (50 dollars in the store but 20 online!!!) and asked me to pick it up on my way home from work. It came with 8 enormous pieces of chicken, 3 chicken sandwiches, 6 biscuits, 3 apple pies and a side (she chose the Louisiana spicy fries). I don't know who the cooks are back in the kitchen but the sandwiches were amazing and although fried it fell apart with every savory bite. We got 2 homestyle and 1 spicy, I got the spicy. The fried chicken was soooo tender and perfectly seasoned. The sandwich weighed about a pound! The fries were cooked crispy and seasoned to perfection! The apple pie reminded me of fried apple pie I ate at a bakery once. The staff was professional and friendly. Compared to the one in my neighborhood near West Haven it was like Night and Day! I will definitely be...
