I visited for the 1st time with my 1st cousin (retired Army Officer) and his son (an attorney from the L.A. area) and my wife. They had eaten there earlier in the week while in town with his wife and one of his daughters and gave it high praise. The business which has is large enough to handle a decent sized crowd and has a menu (including drink specials that vary with the day of the week) that can only be described as, )to quote the late Frank Davis) "Natch'ly N'awlins" They don't have waiters/waitresses, so upon entering (if you aren't going to sit at the bar) you're invited to pick up menus from the bar and return to the bar to place/pick up your food and drink orders at the bar. You are issued a device that vibrates and flashes when your food is ready. You definitely get your money's worth in food and the portions are great. The business has patio seating near the entrance and with the weather being as beautiful as it's been the last few days, it is a popular choice. The place also appeared to be a hit with our young men and women in uniform. I definitely plan to go back and I've also told friends about the "Dog."

Here goes an honest review! Atmosphere- 7. Very NOLA very eclectic. Could use some cleaning and improvements (hole in the ceiling) Service-8. You have to serve yourself food wise which makes where you get what kind of confusing? But the bartender was fun ( no cocktail menu at a saloon???) Food 7. I had a couple comments. Overall the price is well worth what you get. But I’m not sure the bbq is very original in flavor or very flavorful in general. I think it’s the perfect base BBQ for you to customize with your preferred bbq sauce but this is where I’m critical. There was only 1 bbq sauce. At that rate mix bbq sauce into the pulled pork. BISCUITS ARE AMAZING Would recommend for a general well priced bbq place

In town for a work convention. This was within walking distance of the hotel and many others. Looking for food a little later than normal this was the right place at the right time! Greeted with a smile from the bartender she informed us how the placing an order picking it up works. She did a fantastic job of getting our drinks whipped up lightning fast! BBQ pork sliders and Mac and cheese with some fries...easy enough and it all came out fast and hot! Another person at the table had a BBQ Pork potato that she loved! If in the area again I will definitely stop in for food and drinks. Thank you for being awesome on this day! Respectfully, Bryan OKC

Very Disappointing Experience – Do Not Recommend ZERO RATING - BLACK LISTED

I had high hopes for Ugly Dog Saloon and BBQ based on their reputation, but after our recent experience, I feel compelled to share my frustration. We ordered lunch for 35 people for a university event, and the delivery was confirmed multiple times leading up to the day. Unfortunately, the caterer did not show up as scheduled.

Despite several attempts to reach the restaurant – 12 calls and two voicemails left for the manager – we received no communication about the delay or any issues. Even more concerning, EZ Cater, the platform we used to place the order, also tried multiple times to get in touch with Ugly Dog Saloon, only to be hung up on.

This level of unprofessionalism is absolutely unacceptable. Not only did the team fail to fulfill a confirmed order, but they also didn’t bother to inform us about any problems or delays. Our event was seriously disrupted, and it’s hard to express how disappointing this experience was.

If you’re looking for reliable service and accountability, I would strongly advise against using Ugly Dog Saloon and BBQ for catering. Their lack of communication and disregard for customer service shows a complete lack of...

Well let me say this was a pleasant surprise, my wife and I actually walked past this place on the way to a place we had already decided we wanted to go try, this was about 2:00pm. Well the first place a sports bar a couple blocks away had an hour and a half wait so we bailed on that place, we tried another place, a tavern not far away and it wasn't what we were expecting so ditched that place. Tried another place back towards the way we had come from and sat at a table that people had just gotten up from, had to ask to have the table cleaned off, went to bar to order drinks, said they would be right over to get our order.....well we paid for drinks and left. Came back to the Ugly Dog Saloon where we should have just stopped when we passed it earlier! The food was amazing, I had the two meat and two sides meal, the pulled pork was so good it didn't need any sauce added and the collard greens were off the chain good. My wife had the pork and Mac and cheese also a delicious plate. Do NOT WALK BY AND SAY OH THAT SMELLS GOOD AND KEEP WALKING, YOU WILL MISS OUT ON SOME GREAT BBQ!!...I can't add pictures because we were so excited to taste this food I forgot to take pictures, oh well, go taste for yourselves. A definite do...
