Currently, I’m staying at the Hyatt Centric French Quarter. The room is stunning—spacious, beautifully decorated, with incredibly comfortable beds. Juliana at the front desk has been wonderful, but unfortunately, the overall customer service experience has left much to be desired.
Here’s my dilemma: On Saturday, I inquired about a late check-out due to a delay in my cruise embarkation scheduled for 12/1/24. With the standard check-out time being 11 a.m., I was unsure what to do with my luggage. Juliana kindly advised me to call Sunday morning to check if a later check-out could be arranged and mentioned that my bags could be stored until it was time to leave for the port.
On Sunday morning, I woke up early and called the front desk at 6:15 a.m.—no answer. I called again at 7:15 a.m. and reached Juliana, who extended our check-out time to 12 p.m. She also mentioned that staying beyond 12 p.m. would incur a fee.
At 9:15 a.m., I called back to inquire about staying past 12 p.m. and the associated fee. The person who answered placed me on hold and then informed me that 12 p.m. was the latest check-out available because the hotel was completely sold out. However, upon checking the Hyatt website, I found that several rooms, including suites, were still available for 12/1/24.
I called back and spoke with the same representative, who repeated that the hotel was sold out and that 12 p.m. was the latest check-out time. When I pointed out the availability of rooms on the website, she placed me on hold again. Another staff member eventually came on the line and explained that although the hotel was sold out the previous night, rooms were now showing as available because they required cleaning. She reiterated that 12 p.m. was the latest check-out time due to housekeeping schedules but confirmed that we could store our bags at the front desk until it was time to leave for the port.
When I asked again about extending our stay past 12 p.m. for a fee, she paused before finally offering a 2 p.m. extension for $50.
While I appreciate the eventual resolution, the lack of coordination and inconsistent information was frustrating. I was prepared to pay for the convenience, but being told the hotel was sold out when it clearly wasn’t, and having to navigate conflicting statements from staff, left a bad taste in my mouth.
I urge the management team to ensure all guests are treated with respect and that staff communication is aligned to provide a seamless and professional...
Read moreThis has been one of the worst hotels are you stayed in my life. We checked in on Monday. A room, what a disaster. The sink stopper didn’t work, we had to request towels, and the electrical outlets half of them didn’t work. More importantly these rooms couldn’t be any darker unless it was midnight. The amount of money we’re paying per night. Wow. But it gets worse. We go down to the bar. The bartender is yapping with her girlfriends we sit there. She acknowledges us 15+ minutes goes by and she finally comes over. I ordered drinks. My partner orders a beer. The beer tabs Spewing foam only. Yep she expected him to except that as a drink and pay for it. I don’t think so.
Is it just keeps getting worse. The rooms were barely clean. The towels were completely phrase. The front desk, couldn’t be any router or less helpful.
But it keeps getting worse. At one point our room was flooded. When we called Joanne to the front desk to Make note of it the first response was all what did you do. We didn’t do anything. The water was cascading from the floor above us. Then they Told us it wasn’t anything they could do because the room above us had to do not disturb sign on the door. Really? Water is cascading to the floor below and you can’t knock on the door?
It keeps getting better. So then it was decided we could stay in our room. No Wednesday in a room. Yes we could. No we couldn’t. So they tried to transfer us to a really horrific room on the Bourbon Street side that was so loud and smoky that it was uninhabitable. They didn’t move just a room, which was below the grade of which we were paying for. But we were told that’s all there was. This room was worse than the one we have before. But it keeps getting better. This room again in the refrigerator was reversed from how the door opens. The room was dirty. The towels were nonexistent. And the room was darker than the one we had before. And again the front desk totally useless.
They told us they would give us points for the inconvenience of having to move the room. Got acquitted to a night at the hotel. When we went to say, can we use it we were told we could use it on the trip we had. I know they were no rooms available to extend our trip one more night.
This hotel rooms on vacation is the most disgusting Haya I have ever seen and I don’t know how it even has a...
