As someone who has enjoyed afternoon tea at various places, I was looking forward to the experience here, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. The hotel itself is beautiful and certainly a lovely spot to visit. However, the afternoon tea experience fell short of what I’ve come to expect for the price.
When we arrived, it was clear that the venue was understaffed, which resulted in long waits for tea and water refills. Instead of the tranquil and leisurely atmosphere one would expect, the staff seemed rushed, creating a busy and stressful vibe. I was surprised to be served my tea in a coffee mug rather than the elegant teapot and cup set typical of afternoon tea. When I inquired about this, the waitress explained with a laugh that two cups had broken earlier that day, and they didn’t have any extras available. I would have expected a place like this to have a backup supply for such situations, as it felt a bit odd to not have enough tea cups for all guests.
Additionally, my water glass was chipped, which reflected poorly on the attention to detail in the service. The staff seemed more focused on chatting amongst themselves than providing the level of service expected for an elevated tea experience. At one point, I noticed bleach bottles left unattended on nearby tables, which added to the impression that the service lacked the refinement I was hoping for.
While the setting is lovely, the overall experience didn’t align with the premium price tag. It felt more like a casual cafe experience rather than a special afternoon tea. Overall, I would have hoped for a more polished, serene atmosphere and better attention to the...
Read moreWaitress’s attitude was horrible. She picked up the three tiered plate that still had food on it and took it away without asking us if we were finished, which we were not. Then I asked her for a refill on my hot tea. She said OK. The tea pot was located at the table next to our couch. She walked around the couch and went to the bar behind us to chat with her coworker. I was watching her and she kept looking over at me but ignored me. So it seemed as if she was waiting for us to leave because she was tired of serving us. She didn’t come back for 21 minutes. And this was after her coworker that she was chatting with pointed over to us and said something. Also, we paid for three people. Each person did not get one of everything. There were three tarts that were different types of tarts. It was ridiculous for the amount that we were paying for three people that they did not give us each one of each of the types of tarts. I contacted management and they emailed me after I left and checked out of the hotel and was already in the airport to go back to Texas. They did offer to give more training to their staff and to give three complementary afternoon tees the next time we were back in New Orleans. We won’t be back in New Orleans for at least five years, if at all. So it is basically an empty promise. Not very good. It’s ridiculous for the amount of money that we spent on this to be rushed out by our waitress and not get one of each of everything for each person...
Read moreKudos to the HOSTESS at the 11am tea service on Mother's Day. The Ladies in my family have been going to tea at Windsor Court for years. We recently went for Mother's Day at 11:00 am. We were seated, but by 12 noon we had not received anything to eat. We got the cocktail and tea, but no food. We noticed everyone else was already enjoying the scones (2nd food to come out). Nobody was even checking on us. This had never happened to us before at this establishment. The hostess came to our table and I asked her if we were to get our food soon. She said yes, she'd have the server send out our scones right away. When I told her we had not received our sandwiches yet, she was appalled. She immediately took care of the situation and we received our sandwiches. By that time, we had only been poured one cup of tea. We had nothing to drink with our food. The hostess came back to check on us and when we told her we had nothing to drink, she immediately became upset. She left and right away we were served more tea. After that, we didn't have any more issues. So this review got a 5 star because, even with a less than adequate server, the hostess came to our rescue. She comped my Mother's tea in apology. This tells me that Le Salon is a top-notch business. Even when the staff fails, the hostess makes it right. What an excellent hostess she was. Kudos to the hostess at the 11am tea service on...
