I’ve been wanting to check this spot out for happy hour. I went twice in one day for lunch then came back after work for happy hour. Happy hour is also on weekends (which is a plus). For lunch I had the grilled gulf fish sandwich (drum). Could have been seasoned a little more. The bead was throwing me off. The fries were good. Taylor the bartender and Matthew the oyster 🦪 sucker were so cool. Service was good! I’m not even an oyster eater AT ALL. However, Matthew talked me into trying an raw oyster I could not believe I did that. I must say his concoction with the sauce that tapped the oyster had a nice crunch and flavor to it. It was cucumber and I think red pepper 🌶️. When I came back for happy hour Lauren (blue hair) was cool. I tried the sangria. It didn’t give me the sangria vibes that I was looking for. However, it was more spritz forward. I had the pimento cheese croquettes. It was good. The ambience was pretty nice. It definitely gave me the seashore vibes. With the twist of a lounge.

Maria’s Oyster & Wine Bar is a playful, polished seafood spot that knows how to treat you right. The Wild Louisiana Oysters are fresh and briny, the Gulf Tuna Crudo is smooth and citrusy—light but full of flavor. Seafood Gumbo is rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. The Smoked Tuna Dip is creamy and smoky, perfect for sharing (but you won’t want to). And Maria’s Garlic Shrimp? Juicy, buttery, and packed with garlicky goodness. But don’t skip dessert—the Tres Leches Cake is soft, soaked, and cloud-like, the kind of sweet ending that leaves you smiling the whole way home. The Not Another Coffee Cocktail ties it all together—bold, slightly sweet, and just the pick-me-up your evening needed. Classy, fun, and full of flavor—Maria’s is a winner.

This place happened to be around the corner from our hotel so we stopped by soon after we arrived and I’m so glad we did. We tried oysters, the blue crab beignets they had as a special, the tuna crudo and the bread - it was all absolutely delicious. I also had the Alberteaux martini, which was honestly so surprisingly delicious and unique, and the Puttin on the Spritz cocktail, which was so delightful - it was described as having lemon juice, cava, an in-house mandarin (syrup, cordiaI?- I wish I knew so I could recreate at home) and orange blossom water. Having learned this place only recently opened, I think they’re going to have much success. It was one of my favorite spots while I was visiting New Orleans!
