DO NOT RISK YOUR VEHICLE TO STAY HERE- Sorely disappointed at the end of what was otherwise a pleasant stay at the Cambria New Orleans. My husband and I stayed here 2 nights for the Zach Bryan concert. The staff were all very friendly and the rooms were visually nice- but not clean. Stains on the comforter, sheets, and mattress protector. Popcorn on the floor- we didn’t eat any popcorn during our stay. We chose to overlook this because of the kind staff and location of the hotel until the morning we were set to leave. We awoke to a call at 7:30 in the morning to be informed that my husband’s truck had been broken into WHILE IN THE CARE OF VALET. A total of SEVEN in the VALET LOT were all broken into the same night. Let me add that valet for “oversized vehicles” is $58 plus a 12.45% tax per night. When paying that much for parking you expect your vehicle to be left in safe hands with surveillance of your vehicle at all times (I am aware cost of parking in New Orleans is high, that doesn’t negate the fact that it is a lot of money). I was specifically told by a member of the valet team that this had happened a year before at this location and seemed to happen more frequently when concerts occurred in the area yet this DID NOT LEAD TO ANY INCREASES SAFETY MEASURES. The valet staff also admitted that in the specific oversized lot it was an “open lot” and that there is a camera on the corner of the building, but that NO ONE WATCHES IT. I suppose if the valet staff on duty wasn’t wearing AirPods perhaps they could’ve heard the commotion of multiple vehicles being broken into. After reimbursing us for our valet parking for the duration of our trip (which is nowhere near the equivalent of the cost of a new window) the hotel submitted a claim with their third party company, Evolution Parking, who is in charge of valet parking. The claim was denied and they are accepting NO RESPONSIBILITY to reimburse the SEVEN of us who had our cars vandalized, bled in, torn apart, and ultimately left us traumatized. If the company entrusted to handle the care of vehicles while at this hotel property refuses to take responsibility and reimburse customers of the hotel, it is up to the hotel to step in and take care of it. Beyond disappointed with the way this has been handled and highly suggest NO...
Read moreLots of pros & cons to this place. First the cons: the guest room lighting was horrible. No desk/lighting for a typical business traveler, a dim hanging light over a table and that's it. "Reading lights" next to the headboard didn't offer much light. Extremely poor drainage in the bathroom sink, water pooled up and took forever to drain down. The wardrobe had terribly squeaky doors, they were so loud it would wake up your partner if you tried opening or closing them while they were asleep. Also, not a single drawer in the room, no night stand drawer, no wardrobe drawers, nowhere to unpack and place your stuff other than piling it up on a shelf in the wardrobe. Wifi was spotty at times. I woke up early and went down to the hotel lobby where the security guard was fast asleep on one of the lobby sofas. Two mornings in a row I saw this. Not thrilled with the $20 "destination amenity fee" (please) - you get a $2 cheap plastic water bottle to be filled up at a "hydration station", other than that you get food or drink specials if you go in and buy something else. C'mon, you're just soaking the guest for $20 more instead of charging a higher room rate. Don't justify it with giving me access to your "game chest" so I can play checkers. OK now the pros: location is top notch, you're in a perfect spot to hit all of NO's sites. Elevator is first rate (you'd be surprised how many "good hotels" have elevators that are pure rubbish). Good shower water pressure. But head and shoulders above everything is SHARON. She saved the trip for us with all the "cons" I outlined above. She was the epitome of hospitality and was committed to her delivery of service, which I'm afraid to say is harder and harder to find in hotels these days. For example on her day off, we noticed the lack of smiles and welcoming gestures from staff - Sharon went above and beyond on all that, so well done, Sharon! I hope you receive proper kudos...
Read moreAs seasoned travelers it takes a lot to impress us these days but delighted to say The Cambria did. Located in the atmospheric Warehouse District of the city, the hotel embraces its legacy with some really nice interior touches. Our room was very generously sized for a city centre hotel, very modern and clean too. The district itself is adjacent to the French Quarter so really handy for there. It’s a reasonable yomp to get to Bourbon Street but there’s a trolley bus stop as soon as you hit Canal Street that drops off right by Bourbon Street which is about half the total distance, reducing the walk to about 10-15 minutes. For anyone not wanting to bother with even that trip, there are several really nice eating options in the Warehouse District itself - but then you’d miss out on the madness that is Bourbon Street! Talking of which, unmissable though it is, it was really nice to leave that behind each night and return to the tranquility of The Cambria.|Perhaps the nicest surprise about the hotel was the breakfast. I’d been put off pre-booking with some of the reviews commenting on it being a small breakfast area but we found it more than adequate with plenty of seating options and a really nice vibe. It’s a pretty good menu too and the food was amazing. Over the course of a three nights stay we worked through the breakfast bowl, various omelettes and the cambrito and all were superb. The price was very reasonable too, certainly competitive v the local cafes who couldn’t have bettered the quality. |And talking of the vibe, I note an earlier review commenting on how the staff clearly enjoy working in hospitality and that is very obvious: all contributed to a great stay. Occasionally - very occasionally - you come across a place that somehow just gets everything right - The Cambria does...
