Pat O'Brien's — Restaurant in New Orleans

Pat O'Brien’s is a lively bar with a lot of charm. While it’s disappointing that they don’t offer any food bites, their hurricane drinks pack a punch—definitely not the best cocktails I’ve had, but they’ll get the job done. However, the real highlight of the bar is the incredible piano duets.

The energy in the room is contagious. Two talented musicians take turns playing crowd-requested songs on pianos, and the entire bar joins in, singing at the top of their lungs. The atmosphere is electric, full of laughter and music that fills every corner. Each pianist plays for an hour taking turns every two songs before handing off to the next duo for the following hour. All of this while ensuring the music keeps going nonstop throughout the day. It’s a brilliant rotation that makes the experience feel fresh and exciting, no matter when you drop by.

One thing to keep in mind: getting a table here is no small feat. You’ve got to be proactive—waiting around won’t cut it. If you assume someone noticed you hovering, you’re out of luck. The key is to find the manager and politely ask for a spot. Being on your game is essential if you want to secure a good seat in the action.

Update 4/22/21: After 12 years of visiting NOLA 4-10 times per year, we finally decided to visit the Sazerac Bar inside the Roosevelt Hotel (Beautiful lobby). I tried the Sazerac and now I am hooked! My wife noticed that almost everyone at the Sazerac Bar was drinking a Sazerac cocktail. I ordered a Sazerac and a Corona Extra beer. You only sip the Sazerac. The Sazerac is very smooth. I tried the Sazerac at the Carousel Bar and I did not like it. Our next stop was the Chart Room Bar. After the Chart Room Bar, we visited our favorite Bar in NOLA: The Carousel Bar inside the Monteleone Hotel. At the Carousel Bar, as soon I sit, a Fleur De Lis cocktail and a Corona Extra beer are waiting for me. We’re treated as VIP. We had great times at the Carousel Bar for the last 12 years. We’re going back in June; God Willing. PS: We visited Pat O’ Brien’s for Hurricanes and Corona Extra’s on Friday afternoon.

Update: Hurricanes and Corona Extra's. Had a great time. After 4 frigid days without power or water, we were able to get out of Texas and take a hot shower in New Orleans. Our last visit to NOLA was in November 2020 and there were not many people in the French Quarter. We need to support the NOLA hospitality people. New Orleans is coming back. We’re planning to go back to NOLA in April...

I recently visited Pat O's as we affectionately call it.For over 40 years when I visit New Orleans my 3 or 4 times per year I go to Pat O's practically each and every time and the great experience never changes. The food is delicious the service is always a good effort and the atmosphere is just as it says if you read the many positive reviews as it is an amazing and a well controled festive vibe there. But this time was during the holidays I was there and had the hopes of purchasing a special year and meaningful souvenir glass for us from the souvenir shop.There was a manager there named ALDEN that I had the pleasure of talking to about the glass that went above and way beyond by going into the back room and upstairs to maybe find one left over and would you believe he Actually found it for me after 10 -15 minutes of looking for it.When he actually returned with it to our amazement I was floored. Who does that anymore these days? Smh. He could've simply said we sold out long ago which it was and that would've been it but Alden stepped up and I will never ever forget it when I think of the many good times I have had at Pat O'Brien's. Customer service of that level is very very rare and amazing to see!! I just have to say thank you to Pat O's for the years and years of memories and this most recent one as well to add to the piles of the smiles of the years spent at Pat O's..
