HATEUL NASTY WAITSTAFF RUINED MY MORNING/ DAY Insulted my tip in front of my guest, holding my ticket up to my face interrupting our conversation! I got an omelet and ice water, sitting at the counter and tipped Sandy, the waitress accordingly. While I was visiting there with my friend (never addressed our needs again or offered to top off the water, all for which I didn't care anyway) She came back later with a vengence and held the tab up to my face and said I put your tip back on your card I don't need your __ amount. It was supposed to be a pleasant experience, I was meeting my friend for breakfast. She made it clear it was all about her. What a shock! The unprofessional attack was the last thing I expected at my breakfast. Wow, customers be forwarned. The waitress bites! Isn't there supposed to be gratitude for a gratuity? Instead of insulting patrons? Sandy sure put me in MY place. First time there in a long time, I was getting a to-go order basing my choice of locations on web prices, a few weeks ago. They were getting everything wrong. For example, once I found out the website prices are all very deceivingly incorrect, I decided on a dif. order. For a while no one was taking my order, I was ready to give, then another waitress who had nothing to do with me, came over and told me that initial order was being cooked so I asked then why am I reading this menu given me after finding out it's true price? Then the one waiting on me said that's incorrect. I found an old friend there and sat next to him at the counter. It was obvious, I had joined him and we were happy to catch up and he had ordered, but without even asking me, sitting right there, a different one began to bag it all up to go. You can see from the picture how ridiculously close the counter seating is to the kitchen and cash register. I was right there! Both times. The whole ordeal was a confusing mess. They tried to take my plate twice without asking if I was done with it. But I agreed to see my friend there again anyway and THIS happened. Plus even though they put his plate down, (on the counter) he couldn't put the spread on his biscuits he was looking at and had to go fetch his own silverware. I'm not going where the servers feel free to insult you for the amount of tip they feel ENTITLED to. If you're not going to allow people to give you something they don't have to and feel good about it. Just demand a mandatory service fee from them, if you're not going to see it for what it truly is; a gift from individuals not a requirement or obligation from stool warmers that owe you and turn a morning out sour with your chastisement and that nasty attitude. I'm sorry if you're unhappy, who do you think you are to take your negativity out on a customer and ruin my day from the start. I guess they aren't in check because the cook (owner?) doesn't speak English. Smith's cafe has better tasting omelets anyway. I wish I would have taken my business elsewhere. From...
Read moreI'm posting this on behalf of my mother who went with my husband, father and my 2 kids.
It's been 20years since we went there because we had a bad experience then with the service and food was below average at best. However, my husband and I have been there a couple times in the last 6years; service was bad and unwelcoming as well. Here's how last sunday went:
(The restaurant was not full as it was a rainy cold day.)
Waitress did not inform that there was an extra charge for my kids bacon and sausage. (Which we would have only asked for 1 or 2 pieces instead of 3 because the surcharge is quite expensive). Solution: Communication of extra charges is key to good service.
When meal was served; my kids bacon and sausage weren't served. And my mother got another server because they couldn't find their server. They got the attention of a long-haired redhead older waitress and told her what they were missing. She continued to press my mother with a demeaning tone on whether or not it was a side. Which is not up to my mom who doesn't work there to decide the invoicing of this. Solution would have been this waitress to retrieve our waitress to handle the situation.
Pancake looked undercooked as both sides were white not brown.
My family couldn’t locate their waitress for napkins; so my mom saw some on top of a counter-top and helped herself. Mind you, it was not behind any area that only employee are allowed to be. So, my mother helped herself for some napkins. That same rude red-headed waitress glared at my mother and quickly walked over to the napkins; hid them and sneered at my mother.
No manager came to the table to ask us how the meal and service went.
After paying the bill at the front desk there was ABSOLUTELY no farewell, have a good day nor thank you for dinning with us as we are accustomed to when going to Madison Restaurant, Jimmy's, Herschel's, Central Park and other restaurants in the surrounding area. Solution: Discussion and training as well as observing the waitresses on the floor to ensure consistent good customer service is being given.
As my 6year old said after this ordeal, "They need to learn their manners."
We will not be back.
P.s. I posted this on Monday and it somehow disappeared 🤔. Don’t be fooled by the 4.4 stars....
Read moreFood was good (but nothing seemed outstanding). Service was very good and friendly! There were 4 of us and we all ordered different items. I ordered a cheesesteak. It could have had more flavor, but was still good. However, I can honestly say I never had a cheesesteak served on (what looked like) a very wide soft hot dog bun? Typically a cheesesteak is served on Italian bread or a crisp hoagie roll. At least that's how it was in the 3 different States I've lived in over the years. This one was as soft as white bread, so not ideal for a messy sandwich such as a cheesesteak! Atmosphere and tables need some updating and work. The Formica was literally coming off the side of the table where I sat. I kept catching my arm on it! Some booths are too small for people over weight (like me). I'm 227 lbs and couldn't get into the 2 booths we tried (was a bit embarrassing) but it's no secret I'm a big woman LOL, so we sat at a table with chairs. I saw an occupied booth that had a larger man fitting in it just fine. Guess it just depends upon where you...
