Now before I get into it, I’ve been eating at this location for years now ever since I went to college just a few blocks away and the staff are usually friendly and the pizza is great for the price. However, the service I received today and how the following situation was handled was totally unacceptable.
I ordered two slices and asked for them to be heated up (which I got an attitude from the worker to begin with but I wasn’t really bothered by it). Some guy came in and said he’s been waiting for an order of two slices. This was in front of the worker who saw the whole thing and somewhat acknowledged the situation but didn’t say anything about it, so I assumed he was already waiting. The worker then left two slices between me and the guy who said he was waiting for two slices. He asked me if those slices were mine or his and I told him (in front of the worker who heard everything) that if he was here first then I guess it was his. So he proceeded to take the slices and the worker (who again saw and heard the whole thing), didn’t correct him, nor ask him to pay (which I assumed at the time he already paid), or anything and he claimed he was here first waiting for slices so why wouldn’t I let him take the slices and wait another 30 seconds for another two slices. I continued to wait another minute for my two slices and asked the worker when I would get them. The worker then refused to give me two slices because he said that guy didn’t pay and those slices were meant for me when THE WORKER LEFT THE SLICES BETWEEN US, AND DIDNT EVEN HAND IT TO ME. So I not only didn’t get my slices of pizza, the worker basically didn’t want to help me in any way or say that the guy didn’t pay until after the fact the guy left with “MY” slices. He watched the whole thing from the start, the guy even told the worker he ordered two slices, and yet the worker did nothing and gave me an attitude when I tried to get my two slices. So all in all I paid for another guys pizza (but who knows if he paid earlier), didn’t get any slices, didn’t get any help from the worker, and then got an attitude with the worker my entire. I’m usually not one to complain but this is...
Read moreI had a very dear friend visiting NYC for the first time and one of her requests was a cheese slice that NY is so well known for.
I am in East Village pretty often and had stopped in many times before for a late night slice on St Marks Place. This establishment is no frills...especially at night when they close the inside and you are not able to sit. But that is no problem as there is a countertop adjacent to the cash register that you can lean on and it has all the spices/seasonings that people like to put on their pizzas. I knew that this was the place to bring her. We were having dinner nearby at a nice place and I also remembered that 2BROS are open pretty late so the timing was actually perfect.
There was no line and I just went in. Just a couple of people at the counter closes to the entrance. There was a displace with other slices like chicken and other toppings but we were not there for anything fancy. I asked for a plain slice which was approximately $2 and the employee promptly got the pizza and I paid.
We turned to go lean against the counter and she proceeded to put some spice seasoning and white pepper on her pizza and took a bite. She look so happy and savored every bite. She seemed to enjoy the pizza more so than the food at the restaurant we had dined at just before.
This was the simple pleasure and NY experience she was looking for and it made smile (and hungry) to see her enjoying the slice. I was tempted to snag a bit of her pizza but I wanted her to enjoy the whole slice because this is a common slice for those who live here.
Depending on how late it is, there may be some seedy individuals around or rowdy people. Luckily there was neither when we were there and the staff was diligent.
This place is not fancy but recommended for a quick and cheap slice of pizza....especially for anyone who would be visiting the city for the first time...
Read moreI usually come here and eat some descent quality pizza for the price you pay. However, that is not what brings me to write this review today. Aside from the decent pizza, the guy at the front has always been kind and just looking to get through his shift. Even today, as he asked me and my mom whether we were going to have it for here or to go, which we decided to eat-in to what seemed to be a couple of free tables. However, as we approached the tables a group of guys (clearly his friends or colleagues) abruptly blocked the entry way and said “closed”. Obviously we were surprised as to why, since the guy who took our order gave us the option to dine in. Regardless, as we were prepared to leave, the guy looked at us and said to just have a seat, to which we were only more confused. Once the guy gave his colleagues the confirmation that yea, we were allowed to sit down, they started to invite us over as if it was their form of an apology. Nonetheless, the server was great and there was no issues, until his friends decided to take on the lunch-bully behavior and make us feel clearly unwelcome, to which shortly after they would try and invite us back in as if the seating area was actually open after already rejecting us and directing us the way out of the restaurant. Do not come here if your looking to find a comfortable, welcoming, and respectful environment. The bad service is not worth...
