Edit: As everyone can see, the ownership of this establishment cannot take responsibility for their own actions and has resorted to attacking us for leaving an honest review. Classy. First, the couple that came in during our experience had a reservation, showed it to the ladies at the counter, and the ladies at the counter agreed that they had a reservation for that day and apologized profusely. They attempted to call the owner to ask what to do and the owner did not pick up. We watched this unfold, so claiming that we couldn't see or hear what was going on is ridiculous. We are relaying exactly what we witnessed for nearly 20 minutes right next to us. Furthermore, the High Tea again was not the luxurious High Tea experience advertised on the website. The food was subpar, as was the service. Any restaurant with class would reach out directly to a patron who had a poor experience, but the ownership here has decided to personally attack us for our honest review. I'm perplexed, especially because a recent facebook reviewer had a similarly poor experience at their NJ location. We are well aware that this was French High Tea - that doesn't change the fact that it was still done poorly. Remember everyone, if you come here and dare to review this business honestly, they will not reach out to you to correct the situation. Instead they will attack you. Covid is not an excuse for this (completely avoidable) poor treatment of customers. I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 1 star.
Original Review: We had a reservation for the Valentine's Day Weekend High Tea. Truthfully I wasn't expecting the subpar experience we had based on the reviews. The inside, while charming, is actually much smaller than the photos show. This is okay, but it made for a strange seating arrangement. The service was also just okay, nothing spectacular by any means. We were told upon seating that we had to be gone by 3pm because of another reservation. We understood this of course, but being told that upon arrival for our reservation gave us a negative first impression. It's apparent that the staff have not been trained in what is supposed to feel like a luxurious treat.
The food was also average for the most part. The "sandwiches" barely had any filling and the desserts were very heavy on rich chocolate. One dessert was supposed to be a raspberry sponge but it actually had a mousse consistency, like the majority of the desserts on the tray. The French onion soup was, however, delicious. Furthermore, there were two of us and we did not each receive one of each item on the tray like we have at every other High Tea we've been to. Instead, we had to use our knives to awkwardly attempt to cut everything in half. If one person orders High Tea, do they just not give that person half of the items on the tray? Or did we actually get charged for two of each item when they only gave us one? Very confused over this.
Lastly, a very young couple came in all dressed up for a Valentine's date with a confirmed reservation in hand, and the shop turned them away. There was a very awkward exchange going where the staff told the poor gentleman they were so sorry and asked if they could come back the next day despite their reservation, because they had a large party coming in an entire hour later 😕 It was awkward and sad to witness this poor couple go from excited to disappointed. This certainly ruined the atmosphere.
Overall we were very unimpressed, especially because we were charged $75/pp for a High Tea experience that did not command that kind of price. We felt that the website really sells this as a very fancy and indulgent experience, but it was not by any means. I would not recommend anyone pay the kind of...
Read moreThis was, without comparison, the worst dining experience of my life. And seeing how management has attacked other reviewers on here i cant wait to hear her cackling at us again:)
My friends and I went to Parisian Tea Room to end my bachelorette weekend with a classy tea time, dressed prim and proper only to meet the most unprofessional management style we've ever encountered.
We booked for the afternoon tea but when seated was told we had to do the high tea as we had a party of 8. When we showed the manager that online we were given the option between the two and booked afternoon tea she tried to say it doesn't matter what it says online but couldn't find any evidence to back up her claims of larger parties having to do high tea so she gave us a "courtesy" of doing afternoon tea. only to follow her generosity with reminding us that 20% gratuity is automatically added and we can't get out of paying that!:) give me a break.
One hour into our 1.5 hr tea time, we were served tea. 2/8 we're ice cold to the touch. Mind you there were only 4 other patrons other than us. Hardly a bustling work day. 2 tea cups were also chipped and broken and we were told they're "vintage that's how it is" instead of asking if we'd like them replaced
Now comes the food portion (now 2 hours into 1.5 hr tea) and where things went very down hill. We had 2 people with a nut allergy and 2 people who wanted non meat options (egg salad). when the tiers of pastries and sandwiches came out, everything was assorted and the manager who brought it all out had no idea what was what. She told us this is how it comes out and she didn't know the difference between the sandwiches and we should check ourselves. How can you tell the difference between the egg salad and chicken salad? the french chocolate spread and the hazelnut spread? we didn't know either. so she pointed to a sandwich and said this one is egg and started to take the tiers back one by one to ask the chef what is what. when my friend took a bite of the "egg" salad, it was indeed chicken. Now imagine this scenario with a nut allergy taking a bite of presumed french chocolate but it was hazelnut. the harm is incomprehensible.
When concerns were voiced to the manager, instead of any apology or taking responsibility for the poor organization she just argued back blaming her one waitress (she was only on her 2nd day and a total sweetheart trying her best) we kept saying it's not her fault but she would not stop blaming her waitress. She was the one who got the sandwiches wrong not her waitress. The manager refused to tell us her name and told us to google her if we wanted to( we did her name is unbelievably Karen go figure lol) and told us to pay and leave as we were over our 1.5 hr limit despite us getting our full meal over 2 hrs after ordering. I never want to hurt a businesses reputation bc mistakes do happen but when management is entitled and refuses to accept their wrongs/throws blame on others it's not ok. She told us her staff quit a few days ago hence the new waitress and other reviews mention similar about staff not showing up so the manager has to work- makes sense that no one would wanna work for an entitled Karen with no manners or common sense. Avoid...

Looking for a tea room in New York? Skip this circus. You’d be better off microwaving tap water and serving Oreos on paper plates. At least that wouldn’t cost you $254.
This was supposed to be my daughter’s 13th birthday celebration. We got dressed up, paid for an Uber, and walked in excited. By the end, the only thing I was celebrating was surviving the afternoon. The highlight of this “tea” was honestly the Uber ride there.
Here’s what $254 including $40 gratuity (yes, gratuity for doing their job ourselves) gets you: • Stale croissants that crumbled like cardboard. • Mixed greens from a bag. • “Award-winning macarons” that must live in another galaxy, because none were spotted here. • Tea poured by… us. That’s right, we worked our own party. • One tiny croissant sandwich per person • Single use honey jars that were refilled for people to repeatedly use and double dip. • And the signature tea is gross.
The website sells a fantasy. The reality is a catfish nightmare. Cute photos online, but in person? Mismatched espresso cups instead of tea cups, dingy tableware that looks like it came from a garage sale, and furniture that screams secondhand store clearance bin. No table linens or cloth napkins. Please stop operating under the guise of elegance.
And the cherry on this very stale cake: NO AIR CONDITIONING. The ice cream they brought out for my daughter's birthday was melted within 2 minutes. We sat sweating through our clothes in what was supposed to be a “special” milestone moment. Our photos (that we took ourselves, of course) look like we’d been running a marathon.
Let me be clear: I’ve hosted better teas in my living room. Even my Keurig has more dignity. At least it doesn’t charge me $300 to do all the work myself.
Some final truths you should know before you book: – The “decor” is just thrift-store chaos with Instagram filters. – The staff vanishes behind the counter and creepily stares in the reflection of the mirror. – The food feels like punishment, not celebration. – I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here.
New York has plenty of tea rooms worth your time. This one? It’s a scam in doilies. A Pinterest fail parading as a “tea experience.” Save yourself the disappointment.
Take my advice: skip this place. The Uber ride will be the best part of your day.
I wish I would have taken more pictures...
