This was from 2 years ago. At Nine Restaurant & Bar was a fanciful Thai restaurant marked by a giant glowing #9. The decor was ornate and creative with spectacular chandeliers and free gaming branches of faux-cherry blossom branches. It gave the space a dream-like orchard feel. With only space for approximately 25 people, we patiently waited for them to call us on our phone for our table. On Fridays they don’t accept call ahead reservations.
The cocktail menu like the seating space was limited, but what we ordered was fruity, strong and satisfying. We ordered the Hello Kitty and Oops, both were a delight. The Oops we had to order twice we enjoyed it so much. For starters, we ordered Calamari and the @9 Dumplings. The calamari was traditional and didn’t disappoint with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. The dumplings tasted like Sate sauce as a filling and we couldn’t get enough. We also ordered a second order of the dumplings.
Unlike the cocktail menu the entree menu was robust. We ordered the Pad Ka-Prow w/ Shrimp and the Red Curry w/ Duck. The Duck was crispy and the Red Curry was bountiful. Plenty of sauce to ask for extra rice to soak it up for rice lovers. The Pad Ka-Prow had a generous amount of Shrimp with the tails still on. The sauce was delicious, but we would have liked more sauce. We were only able to use quarter the rice provided, but in our case, it worked out because the Red Curry begged for extra rice. We were in a party of four, ordered 7 drinks, three starters, three entrees (we didn’t try the third entree) and the total only came to $170. Great value...

Read moreWe made reservations for 3 pm on a Saturday. Unfortunately, we arrived 6 minutes late (it’s New York, so we can’t rush anywhere). Before arrival, we received a message on our phones stating that we had 10 minutes to show up or our reservation would be canceled.
When we arrived, the staff informed us that they are stopped serving at 4 pm and that we had an hour to eat. I was confused because we had made reservations for 3 pm, and they were closing at 4 pm for a break. Despite this, we decided to sit down because we had reservations. However, if you didn’t want people coming in at 3 pm, you shouldn’t have allowed it.
To make matters worse, the staff rushed us and stood right at our table, making us feel very uncomfortable. Not to mention, the “workers” started bringing food out for themselves and eating it. It was rude that they rushed us and then started eating their own food. Putting three tables together in corner of the bar.
As a result of the terrible service and attitude, they received a terrible tip. The pictures on the website do not do it justice; it’s nothing like it shows. The restaurant is very small and dirty-looking. The only positive thing I can say is that the food was fair, and the silverware was spotless. One last thing I want to mention. I was handed the check without asking if we wanted anything else. I picked this place based off positive reviews I was foolish the reviews are false. They say buyers beware in this case. Customer beware.
I hope I can provide some awareness to others about this...
