UPDATE: I never really give an updated review on places I visit however I feel like this one is necessary. I raved to my cousin about Bed-Stuy Fish Fry and since we were in the area on Sunday we decided to visit. By the time we got home we realized our order was incorrect and items were missing. I ordered and paid for a large cabbage and it wasn’t in the bag. My cousin ordered large yams and was given baked macaroni and cheese instead. The whiting fish taste absolutely horrible. I was surprised because the last few times I’d been there the food was absolutely amazing. The cabbage in one of my other orders wasn’t even cooked the cabbage was hard. The yams also taste horrible and weren't cooked. The fish and chips we were we received about a ¼ of fries. Mostly importantly the employer who took our order was nasty and seemed as though she had an attitude. What I didn’t appreciate is she waited until we placed our order to tell us they were only accepting cash since the machine was down. There should have been a sign or it should have been mentioned before we ordered. What if I didn’t have cash on me? I was highly disappointed with both the service and food. The little bit of food I did eat upset my stomach to the point I felt like I had to vomit. I was even more upset there wasn’t a number listed so I could contact the restaurant to inform them I was missing an item and my order was incorrect. I’m not sure if I’d visit anytime soon after the experience I just had.
WOW, I don’t even know where to start. A friend of mines recommended Bed-Stuy Fish Fry to me years ago. I was finally in the area and decided to give it a try. I almost walked by the restaurant because there is no awning. There are QR codes outside the restaurant so you can view the menu. The restaurant accepts cash and card. However, if you pay with card be prepared to pay a processing fee of 3.5%. It was about a 10–15-minute wait because there was no baked macaroni and cheese ready. There is a. bench outside the restaurant for you to sit on while you wait for your food. The restaurant is very clean, no foul smells, the cashier was very polite and welcoming. I ordered the fried whiting dinner 4 pieces with cabbage and baked macaroni and cheese, and baked chicken 2 pieces a leg and thigh with yams and macaroni and cheese. Let me tell you it was love at first bite. The fish is seasoned well, the yams are soft and sweet and the baked macaroni and was worth the wait it was perfect. I love the fried whiting fish was very fresh and has no bones in it. The baked chicken meal also comes with a drink. The baked chicken was okay. I called the restaurant to specify something simple that I wanted in my order that I had literally just placed on Uber. A woman that I later learned was the manager answered the phone and told me that the order was already completed which was impossible because I just placed the order. I told her ok I’m cancelling. I called Uber but they couldn’t do anything because the restaurant marked the order as completed. Mind you all of this happened in less than 5 mins. How is my food completed? I called her and asked her if they could just make the food how I politely asked for it the first time and she refused and told me to call Uber. She also kept hanging up the phone on me and told me that she had other customers. So now I have no food and no way of getting my money back. There is not section on the app for Notes for their restaurant and for a platter it requires that you pick two sides. I simply wanted fish and chips (chips as my two sides) I called Uber again and they said they couldn’t reach them because they weren’t answering the phone. I went to the store. Got a complete run around and back and forth with Uber calling and them speak just for Uber to tell me that too much time has passed and there’s nothing they can do. I asked the woman for the food that was “complete”. I told her I’m not accepting it if it’s not what I asked for and you’re going to give me my money back. She aggressively propped the food on the counter and told me that yes I was going to except it. They clearly made the food while I was there or something. All the times I been there they have never been fast in there. And If you have my food made why do I have to ask you for it? That’s all I wanted was my food done the way I asked or my money. I dont have time to be in there dealing with them. Didn’t want to be in these people faces. Read moreSaturday 5/1/22 aproximately 9:30pm- Food was good, BUT the service was HORRIBLE! Upon entering I was greeted nicely by the cashier. I told him I was from CT and this was my "Virgin voyage" and they were highly recommended. However, after paying and stepping to the side for 25 minutes I watched the server preparing orders. She was flinging the food into the containers sloppily and had very poor customer service skills. I noticed she was preparing my food so I stepped forward. She prepared 2 of my 3 orders then glared at me and said "Your order's not ready." I said, "That is my order you're preparing." She then raised her voice and said "Didn't you order fried jerk salmon? Do you see it? Your order's not ready." I then said, "Tone!?!" She rolled her eyes took off her apron went to the cashier picked up a soda and started drinking. The cashier whispered something to her then began filling the orders after she said she can't be bothered. When she came back, without washing or sanitizing her hands, the attitude was worse. After 45 minutes I asked what the hold up was and she yelled "You ordered jerked salmon and it takes time!" She then continued to loudly mumble. I said "Are you talking to me? You have dropped 2 baskets of chicken and they are being served to people who ordered after me. Surely salmon cooks faster than chicken." My daughter who was in the car saw her posturing and gesturing and called me. When she heard how the server was talking to me she came inside and asked "Who is talking disrespectfully to my mother?" The server rambled on saying she couldn't "MAKE" me understand the salmon takes longer to cook because it is cooked to order. I then said "Salmon takes 5 minutes at most to cook." I said, "Show me this salmon that takes 45 minutes to cook." They hadn't dropped it yet. She then was disrespectful to the fry cook who said he was not given the order. I said, "Then cancel the order and refund the meals." She yells "NO REFUNDS!" My daughter told her "No problem. I will dispute it with my credit card company."
