The Munchies — Restaurant in New York

I've ordered from here many times and I have noticed a change just like with most eateries that you discover. The quality of the food went from great to subpar. Over time I've gotten food that was either cold, tasted off, and I even had food that gave me food poisoning. After recovering I gave them a chance instructing that they should cook it thoroughly, but I still was not satisfied with the taste of my food. I've had wraps where the meat felt super soft and cold. Every now and again I'll get a bag where it seems everything was rushed (e.g crumbled receipt instead of stapled to the bag like they always do, missing beverage, wrong sauce for mozzarella sticks even though the default has always been marinara sauce). This was intially my favorite place to order from but over time my experience with them have not been good. It's not guaranteed anymore that I would be satisfied with my order. Because of ineptness, I have to fight with Uber Eats to be refunded for items I did not receive, were wrong, or caused me to feel ill and HOPE that I am as sometimes they too fail to conclude that the customer is deserving of a refund for such situations. Like other establishments, The Munchies need to work a little more on following the delivery order just so honest customers who reporting their food for legitimate reasons can avoid such hassles with any delivery platform. Here are some tips:

1.) A check mark to each item on the receipt is a great way to keep track of what was accomplished. 2.) Be sure to package the items properly to avoid anyone having access to the food besides the recipient. 3.) I understand wanting to get orders out quickly, but don't move so fast with delivery orders where you are messing up big time. In-person customers can complain in real time and get their issue resolved in a couple of minutes. Customers via delivery have to go through too much just to MAYBE get a refund. Yeah I'm good... I was supposed to cook today, but the butcher I go to was not open during their posted open hours, so I walked home. On my way I saw The Munchies. I have history with this place as a couple years ago I used to come here all the time. Their customer service back then was great (except for the cashier at the time) but they did mess up my orders a lot and I would always have to return or call in to rectify the situation. There were other issues as well, but I won't go into it as I didn't feel the need then to write a review. I just decided to stop going and left it at that.

However, today I decided to go in against my better judgement to get some chicken over rice. There were all new faces there, and it wasn't busy , maybe 2 other patrons, so I went to one of the "cooks" and asked him if he had Halal chicken over rice. He just looked at me in a dismissive manner and said: Yes, everything here is Halal. Now this was obviously a miscommunication. For reference; when I used to regularly visit, there would be periods of time where the chicken for the chicken over rice would be cooking, and would not be ready for some time. So I wasn't asking if the place served halal food, which I knew it did obviously, I was asking if there was chicken for the chicken over rice that was ready to be served, as sometimes I would be waiting for easily half an hour for the chicken to be ready.

At first I didn't think too much of it, and went to the cashier to order the chicken over rice, but on second thought I changed my mind and just left. I'm not sure what everyone is talking about with the stellar customer service, maybe some people receive it...

If you’re a huge skeptic AND picky like I am then this the review you’re looking for. I normally don’t write reviews but this place definitely warranted one plus I’ve ordered 5times plus had my sister do pickups on her way to visit in the week I discovered them. I was hospitalized nearby and craving a sandwich so based on the other reviews I decided to give this place a chance and when I tell you the other reviews weren’t exaggerating or lying they’re definitely not. I got the chicken sandwich combo and honey bbq wings. EVERYTHING, was perfectly seasoned, hot, fresh and on time. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and well as their seasoned fries and the sauce on the wings was perfect. Literally the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had and I’ve been telling everyone at the hospital and my family about it. Everyone I had try it agreed with me. The portions are also huge so definitely a bang for your buck. It really is that awesome and so very delicious. Besides their great tasting food they also provide excellent customer service(they actually answer their phones and in a timely manner) and provide detailed and attentive service. Lastly they pay attention to the substitution on the ordering app and have never gotten my order wrong not one time. HIGHLY recommend giving them a try and very much looking forward to trying out the rest of their menu. Their pickup is also fast and convenient. Great place, food and staff, keep up...
