Suite V Brooklyn — Local services in New York

Summary: I had a bad dye job here and it wasn't fixed. I went in and asked for an all-over color that was similar to my natural light-brown color (I had box dyed my hair during the pandemic and wanted to finally get back to normal). The stylist suggested something a little darker for some reason. I trusted her expert opinion and said okay. My hair turned out very dark brown, and almost black in some places. I didn't notice just how dark it was until I got home because of the lighting in the salon. Even my forehead peach fuzz was dyed dark brown. I scheduled an appointment to get it fixed. When I got there I was told that my hair came out dark because of how much gray hair I had, which 1) rude? and 2) if that's the case then that should have affected her original dying of my hair. She "fixed" it but it's still dark in some places and it's completely uneven. I have honestly never felt this bad about my hair and I just really needed to feel good about myself after a year of pandemic. Honestly, I haven’t been to a salon for at least a year, because I’m always disappointed, and I end up chopping my own hair, to fix whatever I paid too much for at a salon! But from the minute I walked into the quaint and darling Suite V, I knew I finally found the spot!! Vanessa is so talented with those scissors, they were like her magic wand! I just sat and vibed to the tunes (Gregory Issacs, Beres, Buju…) and next thing I knew my curls were POPPIN’! **Side Note: she has a little vintage shop in the salon too, so make sure you bring an extra credit card or cash to do a little shopping… SO MUCH cute stuff! (I’m boutta go back this week to pick up a couple pieces I fell in love with!!)

Vanessa is the best hair stylist I have ever had. I started going to her 7 years ago when I moved to NYC from Miami. She has given me hip yet professional cuts since. She is always ahead on the latest styles, and she executes perfectly. She did my hair and my husband's hair before our wedding, and it looked rocking and fabulous. In addition, she is a fantastic person. She is thoughtful, experienced, and compassionate. We have the best, most interesting conversations and I leave looking and feeling great. I am so glad she owns her own salon and space. She is truly making her mark...
