I had the pleasure of dining at Ben & Jack's Steakhouse during New York Restaurant Week, and I can confidently say this is one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve had in the city. Though the restaurant is tucked away, it is absolutely worth seeking out. Every aspect of my meal was exceptional, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top-tier steakhouse experience in NYC.
Six Standout Positives:
Incredible Food Quality – I started with the fried calamari, which was crispy and flavorful, followed by a generous portion of New York strip cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were the perfect side pairings, and the cheesecake was a fantastic way to end the meal.
Exceptional Service – From start to finish, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming, ensuring that every need was met without being intrusive.
Outstanding Operational Excellence – I’ve been to several fine dining establishments, and none compare to the efficiency and precision with which Ben & Jack’s is run. Whoever is managing this restaurant deserves recognition for keeping everything seamless and top-tier.
Cozy Yet Elegant Atmosphere – The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between upscale dining and a relaxed, enjoyable experience. It’s ideal for both special occasions and casual nights out.
Great Value During Restaurant Week – Being introduced to Ben & Jack’s through NYC Restaurant Week was a fantastic experience. The quality, portion sizes, and service exceeded expectations. This restaurant is worth every penny even outside of special promotions.
Prime Location for Club Wyndham Guests – I’m currently staying at Club Wyndham Midtown 45 at 205 East 45th Street, just a short walk away. Ben & Jack’s should absolutely reach out to Club Wyndham about being a featured restaurant and offering a 10% discount for guests—it would be a great partnership.
If you’re looking for an exceptional steakhouse experience in NYC, Ben & Jack’s is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending it to everyone I know. 5 stars...
Read more*word to the wise - don’t go to a steak house that automatically places steak sauce on the table!!!! Good steak shouldn’t need sauce!
Items ordered: Oysters = 9/10 - fresh, but cocktail sauce tasted like their steak sauce Calamari = 7/10 - texture was good but marinara sauce was subpar, lacked flavor Bacon steak = 1/10 - so tough and difficult to cut - hard to eat Ceasar salad = 5/10 - standard, nothing special - no anchovies or offered cracked pepper.. that was on the table for us to serve ourselves Mac N Cheese = 2/10 - kinda chalky, same noodles as Kraft Mac n cheese without the delicious taste of Kraft Mac n cheese Brussels sprouts = 0/10 - over cooked mushy with tough bacon chucks unable to bit through - flavorless - lacking in everything Tomahawk ribeye steak $225 = tasted frozen, came on burnt black plate, ordered MR but the outside was well done and inside was barely rare.. they seared the steak on the burnt plate that overcooked it - flavorless and not how we ordered it - definitely not an AGED STEAK! 2x glasses Sauv Blac - OK 2x glasses Pinot Nior - OK Service: never cleared breadcrumbs from table and tried to take plates before we were done. Final bill: $450 + tip - was wishing we went to Morton’s instead - we tried to not go to a chain restaurant but was disappointed
** all in all, we expected a lot more from a $500 dinner - especially from a place that was...
Read moreWent 8/15/18 for Restaurant Week, nice dining had more of a business meeting type restaurant vibe. The hostess started with a reserved demeanor but that was quickly diminished when my upbeat social demeanor turned business serious. Julio was our main waiter he was very accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive; other waiters were hands-on as well they were friendly and helpful (I don't eat Onion Bread, they provided me with French Bread; it wasn't warm the butter was unspreadable cold 😞). The Prime Rib was cooked to my satisfaction (great portion), the mashed potatoes was decent and the broccoli was ok (a little bland, add your own salt, pepper); dessert was ok not a fan of the offerings (Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse or Key Lime Pie) but opted for the Cheescake it needed more crust in my opinion (I could do without the side plop of whipped cream). The Apple Martini was spot on. At the end of Dinner I discovered they had Pecan Pie (not part of the R.W. menu, however i would have paid for it had I known). Might want to add the Pecan Pie as part of the R.W. menu.
Great steakhouse with good food for meetings or bite to eat before a show.
Thank you Julio for making our dining...
