where do I start with these modern places... One of the electronic menu boards was just displaying their music playlist instead of menu-- that's why I didn't know if they sold rolls or not until I asked and they apparently hadn't known that their menu wasn't showing. They tried to fumble with the technology but couldn't figure out how to fix it. The woman behind the counter offered to tell me each roll and the price for each one. I asked if they had a physical menu and they said they had none. They showed me the small kiosk on the desk that is used for NFC payment and adding food to one's order so that I could see the rolls. I decided which roll I wanted to order and then pulled out a 20 dollar bill; they said they don't take cash. (All this technology-dependent service is going to make you lose customers; there are plenty of people aside from me who will want to pay with cash or will have a more efficient time paying with cash.) So I reluctantly pulled out my card even though it was more efficient for me at the time to pay with that bill I had been saving, and that's how the experience with the store went. Next, the sushi. First, I only ordered one roll that was in a tiny box. However, the bag they gave me to put it in was massive and felt incredibly wasteful. When I could sit down to eat, I opened the box with the sushi. As someone who actually makes sushi, I can tell you that this sushi is incredibly low quality. The rolls are not rolled all the way. The taste of the seaweed is heavy and seems like the seaweed must have come straight from a grocery store or convenience store. I could still taste a hint of the vinegar in the rice which left a sort of bitter aftertaste, so I'm guessing they didn't mix it into the rice properly or add enough sugar or fan/fold it properly, if that's even how they made it. Also, a lot of the rolls had a very small amount of rice, avocado, or salmon in them (i ordered a salmon avocado roll) making them look smushed because they were so sloppy and empty. I paid 14 dollars for this one roll of this quality, which had only six pieces. You can get a better deal for more sushi of better quality at different places in NYC. I wouldn't go here again; I believe there should be more effort put into the food and service here.

Honestly, I felt a bit ripped off at this spot. I ordered the Tuna Bowl for $24 thinking it would be a solid, protein-packed meal. Instead, it was about 75% rice (bed of rice covering the entire base), cucumbers, fruits, onion and mayo, with small portion of tuna thrown in. For that price, I was expecting something more filling and balanced definitely not a mostly-rice bowl. I've attached a photo so you can see what I mean. I really don't think this price is justified for what's basically a fancy rice bowl with barely any tuna. I kinda feel gross after eating all that rice and mayo coz I was hungry and at work. I prefer my regular poke bowl instead.

Me and another black woman walked in and received no welcome from anyone. 2 groups of nonblack patrons walked in and received a welcome. Put an extremely bad taste in my mouth. 2 ladies rolling sushi were staring at me like I was unwelcomed while I was looking at the menu, as it was my first time eating here. The cashier was extremely nice though. Would appreciate if you didn’t prejudge patrons by their appearances, especially in an area where there are many black students like myself looking for quality food that isn’t unhealthy.

Really fresh, delicious neighborhood sushi. Loved my spicy tuna crispy rice, salmon avocado roll tasted bright and fresh.

Update 2025 - this has become my go to neighborhood take out spot. The staff is sweet and the food is always bright and fresh.

Don't use door dash - all the problems stem from these delivery apps - and the employees are super kind.

My door dasher took off with my order and marked it as cancelled - I called Bondi for a replacement order - they had given my food to the driver who prob ate it - so they offered to replaced my order and I walked over to pick it up. Easy peasy - skip the stress of the...
