I’ve been living near Buttercup Bake Shop for the last year, and it has truly been my go to for cupcakes, cake, brownies, etc. They’re always so fresh and loaded with butter (a necessity, am I right?). I even crossed paths with the owner’s father one night. He was dropping something off. He was super sweet (no pun intended) and we ended up having a great conversation. He told me how his son is a perfectionist and how he’s only interested in using actual butter, as well as other quality ingredients. I told him I could definitely taste the love and the quality. He ended up giving me some free mini cupcakes that night which was extremely kind! I’ve had so many of their cupcakes. They’re the main thing I usually indulge in when going. Some of my favorites are the lemon cupcake, the apple pie cupcake, strawberry, the dulce de leche (omg!), birthday cake, and I love their Bundt cake slices! They always cut large slices for you. There’s this lemon Bundt cake slice I always get and it is MOIST! Ugh! I always feel guilty after eating it....well, not really lol. After eating such a scrumptious slice of cake, I can’t possibly feel guilty! I cherish the bakeries that maintains quality control. Not all of them do. They take pride in all of their products, and I taste it each time. The fluffiness, the butter, the moisture, the right amount of baking time. It’s all appreciated. You can tell that there’s passion behind it. Go to Buttercup Bake Shop. It’s worth...
Read moreScam!!! Be careful! Do not order anything from them! They don't even return the money for orders they cancel.
I ordered from them cakes twice, always several few days ahead:
At the beginning of April. They called me in the morning of the delivery day saying they didn't have my (kind of) cake on that day. Even though they offered alternatives, I declined. That time I was more understanding because it was in the midst of the Corona crisis.
I ordered again a cake for today. The order was confirmed and the online status this morning was "being completed". They called me in the middle of my desired delivery time to let me know that they tried to call me before - which was not true as I had my phone next to me all morning long - and that they did not make my cake. When they said they had alternative options, I asked which they were - it turned out they only had one yam cake, not optionS.
I am highly disappointed that this happened not only once, but twice. I am not going to order or buy anything from them again.
In addition a few weeks later: I only noticed recently that they have not transferred the money back to me although they said they would when they cancelled my orders. I tried to contact them via their website, but did not receive any reply. Because they cancelled via phone, I do not have any written prove - they did not update online that they cancelled the orders. It is a big scam. Great way of making...
Read moreThis place has poor business practices. I ordered a cake for my birthday here. It was a two layer, 6" cake. Rainbow tie-dye with Ube frosting and Rainbow sprinkles. They double-checked to make sure that the frosting was doable since it was an unusual request. They said it was possible- especially since Ube cupcakes were back in shop for the season. I was really excited, since this is my fav pastry shop. What I got for $40 was...
A muddy colored, sloppy rainbow interior A $7 EXTRA Rainbow sprinkle border (They didn't warn me of the surcharge)- and it was rather crudely and minimally put on the lower 1/4 of my cake. You can buy a pint of rainbow sprinkles for $5 elsewhere. The part I was looking forward to the most was the Ube frosting. This was the reason I bought their expensive cake in the first place. Here's the kicker- THEY DIDN'T USE UBE FROSTING! THEY DYED VANILLA FROSTING PURPLE!!!
I mean if they couldn't do the frosting, why didn't they say something? I would have happily ordered something else. I think their treats are absolutely delicious. But I suppose honesty isn't a priority at this business. It greatly upsets me to say this, but I won't be shopping...
