I’ve never experienced anything like this before in the U.S., and I feel it’s important to share my thoughts. At the time, I tried to keep my frustration to myself and just finish my meal quickly, but I’m leaving this review because I believe things need to change. If no one says anything, I worry other guests—especially those visiting from different countries—might end up having the same unpleasant experience.
I ordered a meal that cost around $70–$80, including the tip. I stepped away briefly to wash my hands, taking all my belongings with me, so the table was completely empty. When I came back, the staff had already started grilling the meat on the table. A big part of the experience with this kind of meal is watching the process from start to finish, and I felt like that was completely taken away from me.
I tried to let it go and enjoy my meal, but the interruptions made it impossible:
First, while I was clearly eating, a staff member approached and insisted on asking if I wanted to place additional orders since the kitchen was closing soon. They seemed determined to get an answer and lingered until I responded.
Then, another staff member came by to ask the same thing again.
Finally, I was asked to pay the bill because the staff was about to change shifts.
The whole time, it felt like they were rushing me to eat, pay, and leave. For a meal that wasn’t cheap—and with an expected 20% tip—it was incredibly frustrating to deal with constant interruptions and the pressure to hurry. It honestly ruined the experience for me.
Even in Korea, where quick service is common, I’ve never seen this kind of pushy behavior. To see this happening in the U.S., where tipping is standard, feels disrespectful and completely unacceptable.
