TOURIST TRAP- AVOID AT ALL COST
I have been staying in Hilton for buisness trips for last 20 years . This cafe has been around for a while . It’s always been overpriced. The service has always been below average but it’s New York so you never expect them to be great at hospitality. But with the inflation it’s just not worth it anymore . I think today was my last time visiting them . The guys frying eggs were just so grumpy. I will never understand the whole gangster vibe which is really not required while you taking breakfast order . I asked one question and they just got so upset . Totally messed up my order . They speak in a different language so you have no clue what one is telling the other about your order . Different price for exact two bagels , I informed the lady at counters and she just stared at me . I just paid cause I was in a rush . I understand nothing will happen but I like to inform people visiting in future . There are way too many options around the area . And you don’t deserve to pay 24 dollars for two bagels prepared wrong with a...
Read moreThe food is good. Great variety. Cool outdoor patio. But just like every other little cafe in that area, they'll up charge you by 2 or 3 dollars...... they charge me a dollar for half and half for my latte. They charge more than what the menu above their heads says. Then the lady argued about it, nagging her register girl uncomfortable cuz even she knew the lady was ripping me off.
I'll never go there again.
Updated after they replied: I understood that it's a dollar extra for half and half. I said whatever milk they usually use. They said half and half and so fine whatever they charge me. However they charged me two dollars. And it's not about the one or two dollars. It's the fact that they did this each time and they do it to hundreds of people every day. But specifically this time it was the employees horrible attitude about it. Even ask the register girl, she was very uncomfortable. I don't need your dollar or change back. I need you guys to stop treating your tourists play Commodities to...
Read moreI came in here one morning to grab something quick for breakfast. The sandwich line was really long so I took a glance at their hot bar. I saw pork dumplings and put 5 into a small plastic container. Five. FIVE. Upon heading to check out and pay they were deemed to be $10. These dumplings WERE NOT sized or weighing anywhere near being worth $2 each. The women at the register said they were heavy - yeah, heavy with thick skin and NOT with meat filling.
The dumplings themselves tasted okay…okaaaaaay….but it was tough to get past how overpriced their hot bar apparently is. Person who paid after me had a small container with some cold fruit and was charged nearly $12 - unsurprisingly they were also shocked. Their breakfast sandwich and lunch sandwich menu seems decently priced for the area but their cold/hot bar is definitely not. I should have known better so shame on me, but I’ll do my best to never eat...
