Finally, Chinese-Boricua take out fusion food! I used to work in my parents restaurant in PR as cashier as well as a cook, so the food here did hit home - though it is slightly different in taste, the food selection and combination were enough to send me on a nostalgic trance. In general, the food was good, though the fried rice was on the drier side. Everything else was good, the portion size, the friendly service, etc. The ‘Tostones ajillo’ was the bomb. Anyone who has a Yelp account, make sure you check in, so you can get it was a freebie. The reason I knocked off one star is because it was far (for me) to get there - the location around the area does not offer much places to hang around, shops, etc. It is mainly residential. So going out there for Chinese take out, makes the trip less eventful, and quite possibly a time consuming trip (if one wants to plan a day out and come out here). Anyway, I understand that it is not the owners fault, but the missing star also accounts for my friend’s slightly...
Read moreFirst visit. Nice portions good selection and tasty dishes. Quick service as well. So...this is my second visit & just glanced threw some other reviews. I understand that we are all going threw difficult times but in saying that. I think this place may need to put in some extra work in their food prep. A year later ordered Chinese rice and it was not as tasty or well put together as my first visit. A large portion of rice but a lot less ingredients and flavor. Lots of cabbage 4 shrimp and a few pieces of pork so with tax it came to 19.33 so not worth the cost or trip. Thought they were a little high priced and lacked in the food preparation the 2nd time around. A 20 minute ride and was disappointed. Also noticed that the responses from owner seemed computer generated as well and maybe someone should be looking closer to the lack of effort being put forward. With covid and so many places struggling to survive pricing and efforts...
Read moreFriendly and surprisingly fluent in Spanish is what you'll find in this Puerto Rican Chinese fusion restaurant. Perfectly nailed Puerto Rican food as well as the most robust pork fried rice I've ever eaten. I had the Mofongo with steak one time and the pork fried rice another time. They're mofongo really shines here as it explodes with flavor. Also it's worth mentioning their general tso's chicken it's actual real chicken pieces not breaded to oblivion like other Chinese restaurants do. So good. I saw a Facebook video that brought me here I figured I had to try it. It definitely beats New Apollo on Grand Street and Union Ave which is a fixture dating back to my childhood. One of my new go-to spots.
