We stumbled upon Casa Maya while trying to fix a late night taco craving. The interior is quaint, yet cozy and inviting, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. We were seated immediately and given the menu. The menu isn't expansive, but covers all that one would need in a place like this. We started off with the chips and guacamole which is served in what I think is a fried tortilla bowl. It was FANTASTIC! The chips were fresh and perfectly crispy. We ate the entire appetizer, including the tortilla bowl. For entrees, we opted to try four different tacos, all of which were nothing short of fantastic. We got chicken, baja fish, carnitas (pork) and birria. Of the four, the standouts were definitely the carnitas and the fish. They just had something extra in them that made them top tier. The size of the tacos were about standard, and they were all very filling, and very fairly priced. My date opted to only have water, while I had a cocktail featuring gin, prosecco and other ingredients. I don't remember the name but it was very good. The other cocktails on the menu looked good as well, but I only had one. When I return I'll be sure to try more. Service was very speedy and professional. The staff was always around in case of questions, and the food came out super fast. The only reason that didn't give this establishment 5 stars is because I think the interior could use a bit of an upgrade. It was a little too plain for my taste. It could be the look/vibe that they're going for, which isn't a bad thing at all. But I think they could add some lights or artwork on the walls. That's just a personal thing, and it definitely doesn't take away from anything else previously mentioned. Overall, this is definitely a great spot for a date, quick bite, or even some drinks after work to unwind and hang out. Although it's far from where I reside in Westchester, I'm definitely planning to come back and try their other offerings. Highly recommended by yours truly

Though the restaurant store front is being visually blocked by the M train construction, it was a great pleasure to venture into this spot. The spicy margaritas were phenomenal and the guacamole yum yum. I highly recommend taking a moment to check this spot when in Brooklyn. Being a bartender in the city, on my day off, this place was exactly what I needed... I gotta say, Juan has me on his Margarita.. definitely worth it. Cheers.

We had a delicious dinner (chicken quesadilla and chicken burrito) and house margaritas at Casa Maya. Happy hour deals are pretty good and go relatively late. The restaurant vibe is nice too. We’d definitely go back if in the area

Mexican food is always a go to for me. But this place did not make the cut at all. I dislike writing negative reviews. But I was so hungry and to be so disappointed really made the difference. I don't even know where to start.

I ordered the carnita tacos, the chicken tacos, the consume and finally the rice and beans.

Carnita tacos: -To start it barely had any meat for the price they charged and the meat was super dry (as if it was day(s) old meat or left under the cooking lights for too long.)

-The tortilla for the tacos was such a TREMENDOUS disappointment! They were hard as if they were cooked and left over. I have to assume these tacos were not made by Mexicans or Hispanic people in general because hard/day old tortillas is a cardian SIN to serve!!!! ...Which leads me to believe this placd can't possible be run or owned by a true Mexican food lover.

Chicken tacos: The SAME issues as the carnita tacos with the dry, hard and old tortillas. And the small cube size chicken had a fast food taste to it. I even found Chipotle chicken BETTER (which says a lot since I've only had it ONCE years ago. lol!)

Birria: I'm a fan of birria, especially the consume and this was so unsatisfactory that I couldn't even finish it after the 2 spoon tastes (I gave it an extra just to be hopeful). This upset me the most because I loath throwing away food. Not only wasn't there ANY meat in the SMALL cup (the website menu is false advertisement), the actual broth tasty weird, even suspicious as if it was process or canned broth.

Rice and beans: This pretty much is the reason why I gave them 1 star. The beans needed more flavor but the rice was actually pretty tasty! 😍 I was surprised since it was the last thing I tasted. Not worth the price but at least I was able to eat it.

Needless to say if this place wants to last it definitely needs better cooks. The menu ideas are great if executed correctly.

There are A LOT of Mexican style places in that area which serve delicious and tasty food and for...

I’d like to preface this by saying I will be contacting my attorney based off the racial discrimination I faced from this restaurant. Whether or not my colleagues will do the same is up to them. To say I’m disappointed in this place is an understatement. I came here with a group of friends happy and ready to spend money for a birthday in the group. We come into the restaurant and mind you the atmosphere isn’t bad but we are greeted by a waiter who looked like he’s already had enough of us even though we just walked in. (we aren’t loud in the slightest) Anyway, he seats us and we ask to split the bill in two (there are 7 of us so we wanted to tell him before hand). He has an attitude the whole time taking our order and once he does finish he goes to put the order in I guess then comes back 20 minutes later asking us to close out and pay… before the food even got there?(all we had gotten at this point was water and chips which are customary and complimentary when you order) I went to ask two friendly Caucasian women if they were asked to do the same and they told me no especially since the restaurant closes at 4am and we had gotten there around 9/10pm. So being that it’s a group of black and brown individuals in our 20s they felt we couldnt pay and wanted to close us out before even tasting the food. Ridiculous and Racist. Not to mention the guy ( I’m guessing the owner/boss) passed by our table on the bottom floor upwards of 4 times just to watch us. When we realized what happened we got up left. We refused to spend any money at this establishment and if you are darker then a paper bag...
