Really wanted to like and enjoy this place especially given it's wonderful decor and bustling atmosphere. But the charm is quickly lost after you walk in. Once you walk in you are greeted by nobody. Nobody except a drove of people either waiting for a table or just hanging out by the bar with their full coats on. We'll never find out and probably neither will you. There is no hostess by the entrance and you can bet the bartender won't provide you with any information. After you deduce that you need to walk 15-20 feet further into the restaurant pass the bar, you will finally reach the receptionist where you are greeted by 2, maybe even 3, hostesses standing there staring at the computer screen. Bad choice of words - they actually will not greet you. At least not right away. All 3 of them will talk to each other, point to the screen, and talk some more before finally acknowledging the customers who are standing there waiting for their attention and guidance. Not a great way to start an evening out. When we finally were brought to our table, I was not allowed to sit down. My wife was able to squeeze into the inside seating but I was not allowed to sit in my chair. A waitress stood by my seat, even after having seen us come to the table, and did not budge. She was speaking with the customer seated next to our table. I stood there awkwardly holding my coat and patiently waited for my chance to sit down. I just stood there. For a good 3 minutes probably. Wife seated already. Me standing there with my coat in my arms. Waiting and listening to the waitress talking to the other customer. Did she see me? Absolutely. Did she have room to step aside and continue her conversation with the customer? Absolutely. Did she have to stand right by my chair and refuse to allow me to sit? Absolutely not. All of this just really took away from what could have been a great first experience at the restaurant. The food was decent. Very big portions and just good enough for you to not be disappointed but nowhere near good enough for you to tell others to come try. Perhaps brunch is better or perhaps the brunch shift workers are better. But dinner that evening certainly was not it. On top of all this, there was an automatic 18% gratuity for our party of 2. Even in NY I have never seen such a thing. I have nothing more to say about that. It was a good attempt at an upscale French restaurant but it is nothing more than that. A mere attempt. Train your staff better. Or hire more experienced staff. Either way, improvements are much needed to...
Read moreMannnn This spot let’s get into it .. We made a 8:45 reservation for Friday night which I recommend because the spot does get crowded . The ambiance was beautiful every classy, well lit but not too much with light music and even tho it was crowded it wasn’t chaotic .
We were seated and seen promptly. Our waitress heather was a class act , very honest and informative of the menu . Me decided to eat out side since it was a nice night , they have a patio area that well decorated and spacious . Now let’s get into the food … the pull apart bread came out hot and tasty ! The deviled egg taste was light but well put together . I got the Buffalo Mac .. when I tell you that was some of the best max I’ve ate lol I definitely recommend. It was cheesy but not over powering and the serving size was huge . My boyfriend said the shrimp scampi was good , I felt the shrimp was a tab but over cooked but still tasty and I didn’t taste his rice but he wasn’t a fan .
The buttermilk chicken salad was huge definitely big enough to share which we did. The chicken was crunchy but juicy and tasty .
The winner of the night was the crab and artichoke dip . PLEASE GET THIS it was so good ! It comes with a side of crispy toast and pairs perfectly with the pull apart bread as well .
Drinks . We got Long Island ice teas . I wasn’t a fan of the drinks too much … the first one we had was good but the second drink after a bartender change I could have went without … I would probably opt for one of their signature drinks next time …
We left full and happy . The Overall the experience was definitely a 9.3 I would super recommend. The bill can get kind of pricey quickly so make sure your pockets are ready lol . Hurry up and make those reservations you won’t be disappointed. Happy...
Read moreOn a quick girls’ trip from Miami to New York, we had one mission before catching a Broadway show: find a solid brunch spot that wouldn’t feel like yet another tourist trap. A local swore by Maison Pickle on the Upper West Side, so I trusted the tip, hopped on Resy, and locked in a table.
We rolled in straight from the airport (shoutout to NYC’s public transit for the unintentional city tour), and even though we were running on travel fumes, we were seated right away. The staff was friendly, fast, and ready for our big brunch expectations.
We weren’t super hungry, so we kept it light: a couple of drinks and one dish to share. I ordered The Razzle, a gin-based cocktail with raspberry and lemon. It sounded fun, but it was a little too tart for my taste—one of those drinks that starts cute but overstays its welcome.
Then came the real star: the Croque Madame with fried chicken. When we ordered it, we thought we’d get a fried chicken side situation. Nope. The fried chicken was in the sandwich. Surprise! And what a happy accident that was.
Crispy chicken? Check. Toasted bread? Check. Perfectly runny egg on top? You bet. Every bite was savory, crunchy, and indulgent in the best way. We definitely weren’t prepared for how good it was, but we rallied like champs.
And let me just say: everything coming out of that kitchen looked ridiculous—in the best way. French toast towers, massive sandwiches, comfort food galore. If we’d shown up with a real appetite we would’ve gone to town.
Final take: Maison Pickle is now firmly on my NYC rotation. Great service, bold flavors, and a far cry from the overpriced, underwhelming spots that somehow stay packed in Midtown. If you're looking for brunch that delivers without the tourist tax, this...
