Cellar 36 boasts one of the city's finest and most expertly curated wine lists. Beyond the exceptional selection, Cellar buzzes with great staff, great music, and great ambiance that complements the fantastic food. The dollar oyster happy hour is an absolute steal, featuring the perfectly balanced St. Simon oysters from New Brunswick, CA. Beyond the oysters, the sourdough bread is truly remarkable. The salumeria, with its standout mortadella, is a personal highlight. And don't miss the Catalan sandwich – arguably one of the best in the city. Its extraordinary bread, flown in from Spain, has a thin yet hearty texture with a unique bite, perfectly paired with a simple yet genius combination of olive oil, grated tomato, jamon serrano, and manchego cheese. Bonkers! Fernando runs the house and is there to provide encyclopedic knowledge of natural wines that elevates the entire experience. He brings the extensive list to life, describing the growers, grapes, maceration, texture, notes, and terroir in a way that effortlessly matches your flavor preferences. His expertise is a testament to the outstanding wines that they offer to their customers. Overall, this is a wonderfully warm and inviting establishment, the kind of exceptional bar every...
Read moreNatty drinkers, don’t touch the HH wine. It’s too bad because it’s a great deal, but you’ll regret it. I can drink 2 bottles of low intervention/natty with no issue, but whatever was in the carafe (it’s supposed to be domaine de terres promises ) gave me the worst headaches and nausea. When I texted a friend who was drinking with me the next morning, she told me she’s never felt this dehydrated and hungover with natural wine before. I usually avoid Meinklang, but I’ll add domaine de terres promises to my avoid list. Staffs are friendly. Bottle list is decent. I like how they have Maudit Flacon. I’ll go for their bottles next time. I’ll give it another try. Hope it was an one-off...
Read moreService and hospitality was lazy. Servers were sitting and eating, taking smoke breaks in the front, sitting at the bar. When I go out to eat I want to make sure it’s not something I can experience at home. Pouring my own wine, pour my own water, getting my own utensils and getting my own napkins is something I can all do at home. Pretty lazy for a new place trying to impress. The oysters were also smaller and warm, my partner was scared to eat them. Hopefully, it will change if/when I go back bc I really did enjoy the HH prices (which I know is more than fair). This is all constructive and better for all future patrons if...
