Read moreReally excited to see this famous Xi’an brand branch out to NYC as well! I tried the osmanthus oolong milk tea and the ChaHalo black milk tea frappé, and both were amazing. The osmanthus one was light and refreshing, perfect for when you want something not too sweet. However, I gotta say the star of the show is definitely the ChaHalo black milk tea for me. You can really taste how rich the tea base they used (jinjunmei black tea from the famous Wuyi mountains) is, and the notes are truly complex and melds well with the cream top and crunchy sprinkled nuts. I would highly recommend this drink to any tea lovers, definitely a unique tea flavor not commonly seen in boba shops. Also for any other ChaHalo fans out there, I did confirm with staff that they’d have their famous lychee drink on the menu too...
Read moreI visited Chahalo in Chinatown during their grand opening when they offered a BOGO free promotion. The place was crowded, and I waited about 30 minutes in line to order. I got the Signature Chahalo Black Milk Tea Frappe. The drink was okay — not too sweet, and it had a nice tea aroma when drinking. However, the whipped cream on top was overly sweet and didn’t go well with the tea flavor.
Overall, the drink wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t anything special or memorable. After waiting 30 minutes, I expected something more unique or impressive. If you’re in Chinatown, there are plenty of other drink shops around, so I think Chahalo needs to offer something that really stands out to make it...
