Chictea — Restaurant in New York

I’m want to added this new sooo delicious sandwich to this review, their shrimp sandwich. It’s like 8oz of chopped shrimp with a few pieces of corn lightly battered and then deep fried with their special sauce, 2 pickles, tomatoes and lettuce in a bun. It is one of the most delicious sandwich you would ever want to eat! So delicately and the flavor s are so balanced. I was amazed with this meaty shrimp sandwich, like you are in shrimp heaven.

I brought their Chictea Combo $15.50 with added $2 for the shrimp. You get a choice of burger or noodle with Appetizer and a drink. I got the Taiwan sausage which is a large sweet sausage, tasty and a watermelon slush with Lychee jelly topping. All the fruit flavored drinks are made from fresh fruits like watermelon and mango.

The sugar levels on all their drinks are adjustable or you can have no sugar at all. So happy they are a great addition to our Bay Ridge food scene. Their service it’s always friendly and they served everything with a great smile! I’m uploading their expanded menu.

This is their 2 week in business. Wonderful young hardworking business owners. I’ve been there 3rd time already. Today I brought my girlfriend for lunch to celebrate her 87th birthday. To my surprise the owner ran out to store to purchase some candles and presented my gf her delicious mango crepe cake “On the House,” and sang her a Happy Birthday song. My friend was overwhelmed by the owner’s generous gesture and will definitely be back soon. I had their delicious combo of their special giant fried chicken sandwich with yummy waffle fries and bubble green tea with red beans for $15.50. My dog also enjoyed part of my chicken sandwich inside. Really wonderful warm family run business serving their customers with love! Just ordered lunch from this cute little quick eats place in the neighborhood. The place is clean and bright.

Today is grand opening July 20-23 All their drinks are buy one get one free promotions, after for a limited time hot foods would be buy one get one 50% off. I brought a large strawberry mango sago and got free a mango grapefruit sago. All fruit drinks are made from fresh fruits and the amount of sugar used in the drinks are customize to your liking, it was delicious and refreshing. They have bubble teas and coffee hot and cold. I also ordered 2 fried chicken sandwiches, comes with special sauce, tomatoes and lettuce for $7.50 which is a steal in our neighborhood, mostly costing anywhere from $12-$15.

Everything is made fresh to order, the fried chicken sandwich was surprisingly delicious with extra thick marinaded chicken breast 1 inch thick fried perfectly juicy and full of flavor. The $5 crinkle fries was ordinary, they also have waffle fries with many different toppings.

They also have beef, real shrimp burgers, Korean style ramen, Appetizers like popcorn chicken, Taiwan sausage, seaweed salad, pork dumplings, shrimp spring rolls and many other items. The desserts are freshly made in-house starting from $5 for cheese cake to Green tea Mille crepes cake $8 for a large slice. Most desserts at nearby restaurants are $10-$15 per servings. Please ask about their frequent buyer club cards. Buy 4 drinks, 5th is 50% off, buy 9 drinks the 10th drinks is free.

One thing I’m most happy about, this restaurant allows friendly dogs inside. I’m definitely coming back with my puppy. There is very limited amount of places in Bay Ridge where you can bring your dog.

Edit (8/7/24): I went again today and the workers were even nicer!!! The girl at the counter asked me how much boba I wanted and that was quite surprising to me! Never, and I mean never, before have I been asked if the amount of boba was good and if I wanted more! The boba was still sweet at 25% sugar but the quality was still top notch. THANK YOU CHICTEA!

(8/4/24) The interior was very cozy and nice. They had quite a bit of seating and there was space for a bike. I biked 27 blocks through a massive storm to get to CHICTEA and I must say that it was worth it. The brown sugar boba milk tea is very and I mean very sweet! You have to get at least 50% original sugar. I recommend 25% for the drink to taste best, however the boba is still quite good at 50% sugar. Additionally, the prices are lower than any other bubble tea shop in the area, and the boba itself is of a much higher quality than of any other shop. The boba is not too hard but not too soft and you can actually taste the different and unique flavors in the drink, which makes CHICTEA’s boba stand out from others. My bubble tea arrived in only 3 minutes (without a line), which is efficient. The employees are also very nice and helpful. The employees help you with ordering in general and always have a smile on their faces. CHICTEA is an incredible family run business and I would highly recommend it anyone who is in the area. Keep in mind that I would recommend that you should get at least half sugar on drinks such as regular milk tea and brown sugar boba milk tea. Came here on Saturday, grand opening day, and placed an order at 1pm. When placing the order, they didn’t let me know how long the wait was and so we assumed it would be the normal ~10 mins. Little did we know, people placed orders an hour ago and have yet to receive their drinks. A couple placed an order for two dishes that ended up being close to a 90 minute wait. A family before us placed an order for two drinks and received their first drink at the 60 min mark and then their second drink at the 80 min mark.

70 minutes in, we finally received two drinks at 2:12pm.

As we were leaving, they were informing people of a minimum 40 minute wait time but they ran out of bubbles. On opening day. 🫨
