The food was amazing as well as the servers. The owner is cool too when he was there the first time I came. However, the manager on staff the second time I came by myself made the experience uncomfortable for me with the excessive check-ups and what would be said in those check-ups. This was flirtatious and inappropriate.
At first the check-ups was appropriate but then it became strange. He told he will see me tomorrow right? He said various time that he will see me soon. It was just like for me "why this pressure to come back. That's my decision." Its one thing to say we hope to see you soon versus saying multiple times we will see you soon. He said to me twice that he has seen me many times when I told him the first and second time that he said this that it was only my second time there.
Then he told me how I did well with all the food I ate which he made me feel self conscious that he was watching me intentionally the whole time. I get you are looking over people but to communicate that is unnecessary. Then after all of that at the end when I was leaving he asked for my name which made me question if he had flirtatious intentions especially after all the times he was telling me to come back tomorrow and that he will see me soon. So it was weird. I would have taken him asking me for my name differently if it was a case that there was not this pressure to come back and he had introduced himself, asked for my name and thanked me for coming then it would have not been weird because thats would have been good customer service.
I would come again only because my first time was really amazing when the owner was there. It was just this specific manager that made me uncomfortable that day. Next time I will address him sooner in regards to his inappropriate excessive check-ups if it happens again. Just saying "I prefer you not check in so often. I am just trying to enjoy a meal by...
Read moreTerrible food. I followed the recommendation of the Infatuation and was extremely disappointed. Reading again the “review” which is not a review at all. This guy doesn’t mention which dishes he had. I was una hurry but thought that following the advice of the infatuation should be a safe bet. I was wrong. My friend ordered a dish with small pieces of chicken but with tons of sliced tomatoes and soggy French fires - why soggy? And it came with a portion of white rice that looked pretty old. I tasted and it tasted old and dry, cold. I ordered two appetizers, one was a tamal which was okay, just the corn a bit too sweet for my taste. And the other was a dish of mashed potatoes, like a pastel, with vegetables with pieces of shrimps. It came with hard boiled eggs topped with mayonnaise. Okay, it looked like a dish from the 50’s. Quite strange and not in the healthy spectrum of food. It was so loud and the most funny thing was that in middle of play list came a a happy birthday song super loud- si funny. The only good thing was the appetizer of fried yuca and patacones because the chimichurri sauce was good. Besides that and the friendly service it was a waste of time and money. I know it’s not expensive but man, be nice and serve better food. What amazes me is that reading the reviews people say things the best Peruvian food in town or things like that. How do they know is good Peruvian food and how they know is authentic. The whole thing is funny at the time, but didn’t sit well in my barriga/belly. Now, I’m not an expert in Peruvian food but as a Latino I know a bit about Latin food. And more that is it just the quality of the ingredients that upsets me. Hoping management reads this. But judging by how crowded was the...
Read moreThe food was tasty, i have been here 2x before tonight. It seems like prices have gone up but servings have been scaled back. I understand food prices have to be increased over time but customers have to feel satisfied with quantity and quality. In my opinion it seems like the food is pretty consistent. We order the ceviche mixto, anticuchos, lomo salteado and tallarines verdes and the shrimp ajillo with basil mashed potatoes. Every dish had layers of flavors, but when it came to portions. We felt the lomo salteado had shrunk from the previous time we ate at chimu. It was not only the lomo salteado, it was also the size of the ceviche. Overall the authentic flavors of peruvian cuisine were present in every dish. Except that eating here is not cheap and therefore the servings should reflect the proper size and portion for each dish. We had 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and 2 additional side dishes. Total bill was about $142 with tax and tip. I have to say that our server was very attentive and thoughtful throughout out our dinner I had the 3 leches cake, personally i found it to be heavy and there was a hint of coconut in it. We had the fried sour dough rings with the sweet dipping sauce and that was good. Very...
