Chun Vegetarian in Brooklyn has become one of my favorite spots, and one of the main reasons for that is their Buddha Bowl. It’s one of those dishes that I can keep coming back to without ever getting tired of it. Whenever I want something that’s hearty, fresh, and still feels good for my body, this is exactly what I order.

The Buddha Bowl is a colorful mix that hits all the right notes. It usually comes packed with kale, spinach, sweet potato, avocado, carrots, cherry tomatoes, quinoa, and fresh strawberries, and everything is tossed together with this delicious house-made sauce that I can never get enough of. The sauce is creamy, tangy, and has just the right amount of flavor to coat the ingredients without overpowering them. One container isn’t nearly enough for a bowl this size, so I always ask for extra, and they’re kind enough to give it to me with no extra charge. That’s huge, because the sauce really ties everything together and makes every bite hit.

What makes this bowl substantial is the sweet potato. It’s hearty, filling, and gives the whole dish that extra comfort factor. The sweet potato adds a natural sweetness that balances the leafy greens and makes the bowl feel complete. The avocado brings a creamy texture that smooths out the crunch from the kale and carrots, while the spinach keeps it fresh and light. The cherry tomatoes are juicy and bright, the carrots add crispness, and the strawberries bring those bursts of tart sweetness that make the whole thing unique. The quinoa is in there too, but it’s really the sweet potato that carries the weight and turns this into a meal that keeps you full.

The best part about this dish is how balanced it feels. You’ve got grains, greens, veggies, fruit, and healthy fats all in one box, and nothing feels like an afterthought. It’s hearty without being heavy, and nourishing without sacrificing flavor. There are plenty of places that put together “healthy bowls” that taste bland or boring, but Chun makes something that actually feels satisfying and delicious every single time.

The atmosphere at Chun Vegetarian matches the food: simple, clean, and welcoming. The staff are always kind and make the experience easy. It feels like a neighborhood spot where they really care about what they’re serving and about keeping things consistent. Whether I’ve ordered it to-go or eaten in, the quality has always been reliable.

At the end of the day, this Buddha Bowl is one of my go-to meals in Brooklyn. Between the hearty sweet potato, the fresh greens, the avocado, the strawberries, and that amazing sauce that they happily give extra of at no charge, it’s become a staple for me. Whenever I want a bowl that feels both nourishing and indulgent, Chun Vegetarian is the first...

Free delivery and generous portions of affordable, vegan food? Absolutely!

My go-to is the vegetable fried rice with tofu, and I must say, the Cookies and Crunch cake is a delight!

As I continue to explore their menu, I've found that I prefer dishes without fake meat, which is often included in most items without being clearly listed.

The scallion pancake was disappointingly doughy, so I won't be ordering that again.

The lo mein didn't quite hit the mark for me.

On the brighter side, the pineapple fried rice was a standout!

The Buddha bowl was also good, but I have a suggestion for improvement: massaging the kale (oil, salt, and some acidity) in salads would prevent it from being dry and add...

It’s been a while since I’ve ordered form Chun Vegatarian and today was a little scary. I made my typical order and instead of pick up which is 2 blocks away I opted for delivery. BIG MISTAKE. My order was general tso. Real basic so I gave the delivery driver $20. After delivery I got a call from the driver in which he cursed me out and told me I only have $20 how is he supposed to eat and then he proceeded to call me a derogatory name. Also he said I can no longer do delivery i will be on some sort of list. I’m sad Chun Vegetarian would hire such delivery people especially when they have your address and phone number. At this point he was so angry I may have to file a...

Chun Vegetarian is my Mecca. My North Star. I love Chun's dishes more than anything as someone with a plant-based diet, but my meat-loving friends also seriously adore Chun for the flavors, textures, portions, and prices, and they order from there on their own. The food is spectacular, and the portions are phenomenal. My go-tos are the sweet Thai basil protein extra spicy (must try), general tso chicken, and sesame chicken, but everything I've tried is great. Love the udon, pineapple fried rice, and carrot cake. Please never change, Chun, we love you!! And if you're hesitant about ordering from here, don't be, it really is THAT good.

My go-to place for Chinese food in the neighborhood that just happens to be vegetarian. I’ve been coming here for the past 3 years now and they are always amazing - consistent, super fresh, and clean. Never bland and you can really taste the quality in the ingredients! They’re also really nice. My faves are the vegan chicken nuggets, the salt & pepper mushrooms, wonton soup (green wontons and veggies) and the bok choy.
