Stopped by on a whim, to order Samosas. In the process, I had some trouble using my card (the bank put a hold on it until I verified two previous purchases as my own). When I asked to pay again with the same card, the server behind the cash wrap asked me “how will you pay using the same card?” I thought it an odd question…but bothered to explain to him that I had security alerts on my card. I also bothered to explain how that sometimes works. When I motioned that I was ready to pay again, he still bothered to ask me the same question, after I’d answered. Annoyed by now I asked him if he was familiar with how bank accounts worked, especially in this country. As he fumbled with another question on my ability to pay, I decided to leave the samosas I came for, and remove myself from that place and the hostility I was being met with.
In today’s world, setting up protection for one’s personal banking, isn’t far fetched. It’s actually quite common. Another common occurrence; that sometimes having those same protections and alerts meant to notify you of any suspicious activity, can oddly be turned on you when your black. The fact that I was questioned THREE times, after explaining the first two times, and an actual bank card being present…..I just wonder if I’d been of a different ethnicity, would they have been necessary. I’ll never know as I won’t ever be going back, to anyplace where I feel my integrity, financial ability, or money is questioned.
It’s cool. I’ll continue shop black-owned. More then likely exclusively so, and DEF won’t be back here again nor...
Read moreI will give a disclaimer first that I am not a review writer...lol I never leave reviews but I tend to rely on them heavily when choosing a place. (I know it's not fair 😔) But this review changes things and I'm doing my part!🙂 Anyway I went to India House for the second time last night and the food was even better than the first time a month and a half ago! The yellow daal was soooo good I kept going back to it throughout the night lol I couldn't help myself lol. It was seasoned perfectly and complimented the fluffy rice so well! I also had an order of vegetable samosa's which were good as well but the yellow daal was the highlight, and definitely on another level! The staff was very pleasant and inviting as well! How often is your second experience better than the first!? I will...
Read moreThe samosas were delicious and I also enjoyed the mixed vegetable pakoras. I tried the roganjosh which was quite tender and very flavorful. I had it with the basmati rice it came with and some garlic naan bread along with a creamy white sauce and herb sauce. Absolutely delicious! The curry, the garlic naan, the sauces…. I loved it. I thought the meat was a little gamey but I enjoyed it! I also got the chicken tikka masala which does have a sweeter flavor which I had seen in other reviews, but the chicken is very tender, and the mild flavor is definitely good for people who don’t want spice. The portions were a nice size in pint containers and filled with meat and curry sauce and everything else came on the side so you could really build your own perfect Indian...
