Hidden Gems of New York: Ultra-Photogenic Spots You Can't Miss 📷

Not good. I came because this place was recommended on TripAdvisor as one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. I needed a place to kill time for a later appointment near by and really wanted some good queso. This place was not the place for that at all. The queso was more like the consistency of melted mozzarella cheese that you put on pizza and the cooler it got, the stiffer the cheese got. Cheese was so stiff that you could cut it with a knife and fork. It got to the point that I couldn’t even dip my chips (which didn’t taste fresh) in the cheese so I just stop eating it because it was dreadful. I’m used to more creamy consistency that I can truly dip my chips in. Look at my pics, there was nothing creamy about it. The strawberry frozen margarita barely had any flavor but I did get a lite buzz from it. The enchiladas were actually good but not great. And an again the cheese they used to top the enchiladas got so stiff you could peel it off. The best part of the experience was the service. The hostess was very warm and friendly. And my waiter was extremely kind and accommodating. Too bad the food didn’t live up to the service. I won’t be back.

Cilantro surpassed all expectations with its enchanting atmosphere and outstanding culinary offerings. The ambiance seamlessly blends modern chic with cozy warmth, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you step in, the inviting glow sets the tone for a delightful evening. Now, let's talk about the food – simply extraordinary. Each dish at Cilantro is a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that dance on your taste buds. The menu is a culinary journey, featuring a delightful array of dishes that cater to diverse palates. The chef's commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients is evident in every bite. The staff's attentiveness and knowledge add another layer to the overall excellence. Carlos the Gm is a tru gentle man. From recommendations to service, their dedication to ensuring guests have a memorable time is commendable. Cilantro isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience that leaves you craving more. If you're seeking a place where ambiance and cuisine harmonize to perfection, Cilantro is the epitome of culinary bliss.

We saw the reviews on Google for this restaurant but were so disappointed! We came after a concert (arriving at 10:30pm- they close at midnight) and got seated. Many more people came to the restaurant after we got seated and ordered but it took them 45 minutes to bring us our food. It was so ridiculous because we saw so many tables who got sat after us get not only their appetizers on time, but their food as well. We got told our food would come out all to whether despite ordering an appetizer that we wanted out first. The waiter was quite condescending when we asked her for the wait time for food the third time and kept telling us “in two minutes.” The lady also proceeded to tell us that it was because we arrived close to closing time AS IF THEY DIDNT KEEP ACCEPTING MORE TABLES AFTER US. We arrived on time and they kept accepting customers. That’s great for them but it was ultimately not our fault. Anyways, terrible service even with understanding that there was a lot of people. They just lied about the wait time on the food. We could’ve just went somewhere else. And food was cold 🤣🤣 you’d expect pipping hot food since they had the grill fired up 🤣🤣🤣

Update after owner commented on this review: LOLOL you got a nerve to comment on this review acting like I don’t support small business🤣 first of all, if you are getting ready to close the kitchen or it closed at 10, don’t seat people🤣 you obviously don’t care about your employees or you’re just greedy 😭 The way you manage your restaurant is not my business and I couldn’t care less? I bring the money, if you want to close your restaurant on time, please do. I will find another place. Take your victim mentality somewhere else. And no, it’s not because it’s a Mexican restaurant, I am Mexican myself🤣 I saw the historically good reviews and came last year 🤣 but thank you for reminding me to go back again through the reviews…. Looks like lots has changed because you got a lot of people complaining of mediocre food, bad service, overpriced, and new management that ruined the good ole staple Cilantro. Don’t bother trying to comment again because it’ll just make you look worse. Take the review and improve for next time. And while you’re at it, reply to the other 10s of reviews that say this place sucks… all within the last 6...

We used to go there and enjoyed the nice atomosphere and good food for years. Last Friday, however, we had a VERY TERRIBLE experience because of lack of management and honesty of the manager of the restaurant (a short guy with curly grey hair). To make this long story short, we went there and wanted to sit outside (at beginning the lady who was in charge told us it is going to take 15 to 20 mins to be seated) however nobody left the place for an hour.(meanwhile my husband and I were the only people who were standing by the entrance door while the manager and that lady repeatedly keep telling us we will seat you ASAP and we are very sorry about this!) exactly after an hour one seat got empty but the manager who was whispering with a guy took him and his two people who just arrived to that table and ignored us completely! (imagine after a long day at work, he kept us standing by the door for precisely an hour on our feet, then gave our seat to another group of customers). When I confronted him, very calmly he said "you wait here and I am very sorry!!!" He continued "there is another seat and it is going to be empty in no time!!!" We just wanted to spend some quality time in a place that we used to have good memories of! Instead he kept us waiting for AN HOUR in front of the door, then he gave the seat to a group of other people who had more in their party than us! And told me SORRY ABOUT THAT! This greedy and unprofessional person destroyed our weekend just because we trusted...

I don't like leaving such a poor review but after the last experience + other poor ones, I cant ignore it. I don't dine in, but I often spend a LOT of money ordering in. The delivery is such a joke. First, I speak a bit of Spanish and I have zero issues with people not speaking English well. I do have an issue with my recent situation -person calling my cell 6TIMES, he couldn't understand anything said nor could I him. Honest, I've ordered so hundreds of times and nobody has EVER had trouble finding my apt as it's super obvious. The delivery person kept calling me screaming, I could see he wasn't in front of my building. I tried calling the restaurant but they just not my prob and hung up on me. DO NOT EXPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS TO BE HAPPY WHEN THEY ORDER $30 LUNCH enchaladas, but they can't be delivered bc 1- delivery person bad 2- your own staff are awful.

I believe this place will be gone soon sadly. Don't want to close?Hire someone that can manage. English and Spanish- or whatever it takes as Basic COMMUNICATION should be allowed and expected. last person I spoke with but had no info or help, took 6 calls for someone to pickup the phone (hello? Customer service?) but why bother answering the phone? BC the person couldn't help and then told me he was too new and then hung up on me. It's too bad. Really assomeone who has lived in socal and Mexico, this is a...
