Came here because it was Joshua Weissman’s highest rated spot in Chinatown, and I have to agree with him on this one because it was definitely tied for my top 2 spots in Chinatown during my short visit last time I came here.
Ordered the exact same thing he did, with a three meat combo with ginger scallion oil on the side. If you are Chinese or can speak a little, they are very friendly to you. Like many other Chinatown spots, it’s a little cramped and dirty inside, and if you don’t know your way around it can be hard to find, or if you don’t speak Chinese, it can be difficult ordering (you can still order in English). I won’t say service is really good here, because I know they may not treat everyone as well as they treated me or anyone who looks Asian.
On a side note, the sushi they sell inside at the side is surprisingly good. Generous price to portion and quality, being a step above grocery store sushi in America. It was like $11 for a 5 piece eel nigiri with half an eel roll.
10/10 highly recommend! I would come here every time I go back to NYC, because their food is excellent and it’s...
Read moreA Cantonese-style roast meats platter and water for under $10 in Flushing! On my most recent visit, I got a platter of roast duck over rice + cabbage. The skin is crispy, and the meat is well-seasoned, tender, and lean, which is how duck’s supposed to be. It’s $10 on the menu, but if you pay in cash, you get a 20% discount (tax not included). That 20% discount goes for all the stuff on their menu.
Most people come to Corner 28 for their roast meats section and it’ll definitely fill you up. There's a wide selection of roast meats and you know it's legit when you see them all hanging on the window, fresh and glistening with a bright light behind it
Growing up, Corner 28 actually used to be located on the corner, just down the block. When I was younger I used to visit here quite often to get a filling meal of meats, vegetables, and carbs all in one platter for a very affordable price. They also used to give soup instead of a water bottle!

Read moreI've been craving for duck buns for the past few days like a pregnant woman (which I'm not). So while running errands in downtown Main Street today, I decided to go get some at Corner 28. I used to buy them all the time here but haven't been back in a while. Glad to see that you can still get fairly inexpensive food here. I still remember when the duck buns costs $0.75! Now each bun costs $1.25 (still a bargain). I noticed that the buns themselves are no longer house made. Now they come from prepackaged containers. The duck is still very good though and exactly as I remembered them. Very juicy and crispy. The hoisin sauce they douse it in complements the duck and cuts through the fat nicely.
While the restaurant is looking run down and not as clean as I remembered, it's still nice to have a place like this for quick...
