So where to begin. I guess I should have realized something was up when I saw there were only three people dining here at 12 noon in the Financial District. But hey, I figured it can't be that hard to clone Chipotle, so how bad could it be?
Well, how about the rice? Should rice be served al dente? Because I think that's probably bad. Like, personally, I don't think rice should actually crunch when you eat it. I dunno, maybe I've not eaten authentic Mission-style Mexican but every other time, the rice has had the consistency of y'know. Rice. Not rice krispys.
Well maybe that's not so bad, I mean rice only takes up about like... 90% of a Dos Toros burrito, surely there was something good in there. How about the tortilla? You're not so much biting through the tortilla as much as you are trying to tear off bits of it with your teeth.
Anyway, threw away the burrito. This isn't getting into the other assorted problems with this joint-- the only drinks offered being cans of soda instead of a fountain like you'd find at a Chipotle, or the register not actually having any sort of customer-facing display, or the doors being roughly as stout as a bank vault-- Oh, and the tables were filthy.
I suppose you could do worse, but I'm not sure you'd...

The concept of the restaurant is that two brothers who grew up in SF loved mission style burritos. Apparently they would eat at these taquerias at least 5 times a week (may be a stretch but worth).
I went with my standard (chipotle) burrito ingredients: rice, black beans, steak, chicken, fajita, cheese, hot sauce (they have a habanero sauce that packs a punch), corn, and guac. Delicious!
Definitely recommend trying this spot if you have never been. Also, this particular location is new. Primely located in...
Read moreThis is the best dos toros store I have been to. Robert’s has been nothing but friendly since I’ve walked into the door. The food quality is amazing here and to top it off, the customer service is outstanding. I’ve only been to a few dos toros stores, however, Roberts has made me fully aware of everything that’s on the menu, giving me the knowledge to make the best suitable choice for my meal. I love her customer service, and because of her, I will be coming back again! Yall should...
